FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code is Black Tie Optional. This means that while we would love for you to dress up, you don't need to wear ultra-fancy attire (unless you want to!). Great options include full-length dresses, tuxes, cocktail dresses, or suits.

Question

What will the weather be like in Lexington in early May?

Answer

To quote weatherspark.com, "daily high temperatures increase by 8°F, from 70°F to 78°F, rarely falling below 59°F or exceeding 86°F. Daily low temperatures increase by 9°F, from 51°F to 60°F, rarely falling below 40°F or exceeding 68°F." What this doesn't include is that Kentucky spring weather is very unpredictable, and notably, Derby day is typically synonymous with rain. We recommend bringing a light jacket, as well as a rain coat and umbrella. Also, keep a close eye on the weather. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, right?

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors, under a tent. Cocktail hour and the reception will give you the option to be indoors, or outdoors in Apiary's gorgeous garden and courtyard.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception at the same place?

Answer

Yes! Both the ceremony and reception will be held at Apiary Fine Catering & Events at 218 Jefferson St, Lexington, KY 40508.

Question

How far is the hotel from the venue?

Answer

Apiary Fine Catering and Events is 0.7 miles from The Lexington Marriott City Center. This equates to a 4 minute Lyft or Uber and a less than 20 minute walk.

Question

Will there be transportation from the hotel to the venue?

Answer

We will not be providing formal transportation from the hotel to the venue. We recommend using ride-share services, like Uber or Lyft.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

There is a small parking lot at the venue and some surrounding street parking, but we highly recommend using ride-share services rather than driving yourselves!

Question

Is there a hotel block for guests?

Answer

Yes! We have a hotel block at the Lexington Marriott City Center Hotel in downtown Lexington. Rooms are discounted to $179 a night. If you're interested, check out the "Travel" tab on our wedding website.

Question

Are there other hotel options?

Answer

There are a ton of hotel options in downtown Lexington. In addition to the Lexington Marriott City Center, other great downtown options include the 21C Museum Hotel Lexington, Hilton Lexington/Downtown, Hyatt Regency Lexington, and The Sire Hotel Lexington. If you want to be closer to The Summit at Fritz Farm and The Fayette Mall, The Origin Hotel is a great option. If you want to feel like a royal for the weekend, we recommend the hotel at The Kentucky Castle. If hotels aren't your thing, there are many great AirBnB options around Lexington.

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes!

Question

What will the food be like? Will there be options for people with dietary restrictions?

Answer

There will be appetizers followed by a plated dinner. Please indicate your meal preference on your RSVP. If you have any dietary restrictions such as food allergies or intolerances, or you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, please let us know on your RSVP card.

Question

What accommodations will be made to keep guests safe from COVID-19?

Answer

Our biggest priority is the safety of all of our friends and family, so we are asking that all guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or get tested for COVID-19 within 48 hours of the wedding. While we won't be asking for anyone to have proof of their vaccinations or testing, we ask that guests act on the honor system and do their part to keep everyone safe. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you join us virtually, rather than in-person. Masks will be optional but encouraged. If you are immunocompromised or would just prefer to minimize your exposure, please let us know in advance and we will be sure to seat you in our open-air seating area. We will closely monitor COVID-19 risks as May 7th approaches and update our accommodations as necessary.
