How We Met

Increasing the success rate...

Although cliche and seemingly taboo, we met on the dating app called Tinder. After a few disappointing matches, we both ended up "swiping right" on each other (his best friend, Maria, actually swiped for him), and realized that we really seemed to click! After a few canceled dates and some bad pizza, we were sitting by the lake at Loch Raven, and I leaned against him with the apology rose he had given me (for cancelling our dates so many times), and I thought to myself, "Wow...I really like this guy that I met online. Go figure!" Every moment since then has made us grow closer and stronger, leading us to our own "Happily Ever After"! <3

The Proposal

Could anything else have gone wrong?

It was the last day of school before Winter Break, and Nathan suggested that we make it a special evening to kick off the holiday season. We planned to go to DC with our dear friends, Allison and Andrew, to look at Christmas lights and eat a delicious dinner. However, our night went far from according to plan... I was not ready when Nathan came to pick me up after work, making us late to get on the road. I then inputted the wrong address to the GPS for Allison and Andrew's house, so we arrived even later than expected. Unbeknownst to me, Nathan was inwardly freaking out about our tardiness because he had already made the dinner reservations, which were supposed to be after the proposal. At this rate, we would be arriving in DC just in time for dinner. So Andrew calmed him down and pushed dinner back a bit so we could still have our special moment. When we arrived in DC, not a single Christmas light was displayed. Nathan couldn't believe his luck. A lady then told us that even the National Christmas Tree was shut off due to someone attempting to climb it that evening. Panicked, Nathan suggested that we walk towards the National Monument to at least be somewhat touristy and enjoy the fresh air. When we got close, he paused and told me to take a picture...so I did. We then kept walking. He paused a second time and told me to take another picture, to which I annoyingly replied, "You know it looks the same from every angle, right?" He just laughed and told me to do it...so I did. However, this time, when I turned around, he was on one knee, with a box in his hand and a smile on his face. Of course, I theatrically exclaimed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" He just laughed, said some beautiful words (which I of course blacked out for due to my surprise and excitement), and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. And I, of course, said, "YES!" :)
