This one is for Alissa's family and friends... "Wah-hah-ka" ;)
The dress code is “colorful semi-formal”. Think patterns and bright colors. We are picturing something fun and fashionable. Please wear something that makes you feel confident— there is no need to buy something new. Ideally no shorts or jeans. We will be walking from the ceremony to the reception, so please bring or wear comfortable shoes to walk and dance keeping in mind that the streets are cobblestone. Wear whatever makes your heart and feet happy. It's going to be HOT in Oaxaca late March, so keep that in mind. You might want a light sweater or jacket for the evening, however. The ceremony is outside, and the reception is inside/outside. Link for some of our ideas: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/168she4b-exlkShoad8sJBEp8m6XQWuRaA_aqnSdy9u0/edit?usp=sharing
If there are any foods that you are unable to eat, please contact us ASAP or fill out the food allergy form we sent via email :)
Please reach out to us individually to answer this one :) We need to wait until we get everyone's RSVP's to see if there is space for the little ones.
We will be staying at City Centro, Oaxaca City. We'd love to hang with you at the pool at the hotel if you choose to stay here. There are lots of beautiful hotels and airbnbs to choose from in the area, however! In the past we have stayed at Selina, which is a hostel/hotel/wework where a lot of young trevelers stay, it is affordable. The main area is El Centro, the ceremony & reception will be in Barrio Jalatlaco which is a few blocks from the Centro, walkeable.
To get to the city from the airport, you can take a "colectivo" taxi, which is a shuttle with other travelers from the airport. There is a big sign that says "taxi" just past baggage claim while you're still in the airport building that can help you set this up. It's about a 20 min ride to most places in the city from the airport, and the colectivos are a safe and affordable way to arrive. You can of course hire an individual taxi as well. Apps: As of right now, there is no Uber in Oaxaca. They use an app called DiDi, which is very similar to Uber that you can use to find a ride (especially if you don't want to pay with cash). However, sometimes the wait times are longer than if you were to just grab a taxi from the street. Set and agree to a price before you get in the taxi, and pay cash when you arrive. Walking: Oaxaca is a very walkable city, especially if you stay near the center. We recommend walking during the day, and getting a safe taxi for nighttime.
Please reach out to us directly to inform us of any allergies or restrictions you may have. We will try our best to accommodate everyone.
Is water wet? (Yes, but always have emergency cash on hand when in Oaxaca).
Please add the hashtag #AliandNatainOaxaca if you post anything from the weekend! While you might want to take lots of pics we encourage you to be in the moment and enjoy. We'll have an amazing photographer and we'll share all the pictures with you.
