We’re Getting Married!

During the Summer of 2012 we went with a group of friends to Atlanta, Georgia to support a friend trying out for a singing TV show. Little did we know, the process to trying out for a signing TV show would be an all day event, that the person auditioning could only take one person with them for support. Our friend made an easy decision, although it was not really an option, by choosing their mom as the supportive person. So the group of friends decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and go explore Downtown Atlanta while they waited for their friends auditions to be over. We decided to go explore Atlanta together that day and because of this single decision that’s where the story begins. We were just two friends whose chemistry immediately clicked. We can remembering liking each other but not knowing if it was mutual, we can confirm that now... because of the trip to Atlanta we fell in love.

Jerry had two request from me to propose one day: 1. Ask my mom and grandfather for their blessing 2. It could not be on a day that was already special, a.k.a. Birthdays/Holidays The week leading up to the ‘Yes’ day: On Monday evening, Jerry went to my parents house to ask my mom for the blessing. My mom was so thrilled she couldn’t contain the secret and called my grandfather informing him Jerry was on the way over there to ask him for his blessing and they both of course said Yes. Then on Thursday, my friend insisted we go get our nails done for my Birthday, however, I do not like to get my nails done and my frined knew this so I started to become suspicious. Then on Friday, Jerry sent a message to our families of the plan with a screenshot of a GoogleMaps photo of where he was going to propose. It was even color coordinated with where they needed to stand and which direction we would be coming from, the cutest right? That evening we decided to meet some friend for dinner in Downtown Asheville. We were told to meet them at the Vance monument, however, it was pouring the rain, and we just waited and waited with our friends now where in sight. Finally, Jerry said, “Let's just start to walk down towards the restaurant.” As we started walking Jerry grabbed my hand and had the biggest grin on his face. He then started to slow down around the original spot where he asked me to be his girlfriend. Jerry asked, "Do you see who that is over there..." and it was my mom at the information building hallway. I dumbfounded asked her, “What are doing you doing here?” Then, all of our friend and family popped out of the hallway and Jerry pulled me close to him. He gave a tiny speech on how much he loves me, dropped down on one knee (in the pouring rain), and asked "Alexandrea Jordan Ledbetter, will you marry me?" Words wouldn't even form out of my mouth due to being so emotional. I just nodded, was crying joyful tears, and pulled Jerry in for a conformation kiss.
