Jake and Ali met in 2016 working as lifeguards at the Tulsa Tennis Club. Almost every time they worked together it was storming, so they would spend the days sitting in the clubhouse watching movies and getting to know each other. They quickly became good friends, without a love interest. Fast forward to 2020 in the midst of the COVID lockdown. Jake was living at the Webber’s lake house and yet again fate intervened, the Bovassos were next-door neighbors. Jake and Ali rekindled their friendship and began hanging out every weekend. On July 4th, 2020 Jake and Ali both realized that there was a spark between them that was definitely more than friends. Jake started to joke that Ali was his “lake girlfriend,” since plans were made to end their relationship once Ali went back to school in Norman. As the summer was coming to an end, it was time to call it quits. However, both Jake and Ali were not ready for their relationship to be over. Almost immediately after returning to Norman, Ali began receiving texts from Jake, “Hey, I ended up driving down to Norman, do you have any plans tonight?” Ali reciprocated when she came home to Tulsa. Jake knew it was finally time to ask Ali to be his “real girlfriend” and they have been inseparable ever since! Thus began the incessant travel between Tulsa and Norman every weekend. In spring of 2021, Jake asked if Ali wanted to live at the lake with him for the summer. Ali said, “Sure, why not?” Though they both secretly wondered if the pressure of living together would make or break the relationship. That summer definitely MADE their relationship! They had so much fun together, doing online classes, going on walks, surfing, swimming, and cooking. Their love for not only the lake but each other was undeniable! In May of 2022, Jake and Ali moved into their new house together and have loved every moment of it! Jake quickly realized that he was ready to make things permanent but Ali wanted to wait a bit longer. One day after spending the weekend apart, Ali came home and said the words Jake had been waiting for "I am ready." Jake immediately started on the engagement plans. During the secretive planning process, hoping it would keep Ali busy, they made their family a little bigger by adopting two border collie mixed puppies. Belle & Bear are the two craziest and cutest pups in the world, not that we are biased at all! As hard as Jake tried to keep Ali preoccupied, she accidentally saw his car at the jeweler. Tirelessly Jake continued to try to throw Ali off his trail and make the evening as magical as he could. Though she should have seen it coming when the night of the engagement he picked out her outfit and painted her nails. When they arrived at Ali’s favorite restaurant, Keo, nothing except Jake seemed out of the ordinary (he did not eat his food). Little did Ali know that the lady sitting at the table beside them was a photographer, the cake was in the kitchen, the bartender had champagne poured and their family and friends were waiting in the parking lot. After dinner Jake proposed and Ali said yes! We are so excited to get married and for all of you to celebrate our love with us!
