Gavin and I met for the first time in November of 2013 at the Callaway House in Austin, TX. It was our freshman year of college, and I was in Austin visiting my good friend and bridesmaid, Katherine (Hingle) Chapman. Gavin was also in Austin that weekend visiting his long-distance girlfriend at the time: Katherine’s freshman year roommate. Gavin walked into Katherine’s apartment carrying a big box of pepperoni pizza from Austin’s Pizza and introduced himself. I was so hungry, and the pizza smelled so good that I shamelessly asked him for a slice. Thankfully, he generously gave me one! I apparently followed him on Instagram after this encounter, but the timing on that part is still debatable… Fast forward to New Year’s Eve 2013: Gavin and I ended up at the same party. By then, I had already decided to transfer from TCU to Texas A&M for the spring semester of my freshman year. Since Gavin was already a freshman at A&M, we spent most of the night talking about all things College Station. We got along instantly, and the conversation felt effortless. I remember leaving that night feeling excited that I had made such a genuine new friend. My 19th birthday fell during the first week of the spring semester at A&M, and Gavin slid into my DM's to wish me a happy birthday. My mom had mailed cookies to my dorm, so I invited basically everyone I knew in College Station at the time (mostly my high school friends and Gavin) to come celebrate with me. From that day on, Gavin and I became fast friends. Shortly afterward, Gavin broke up with his girlfriend in Austin… thank God lol. Over the course of that spring semester, our friendship continued to grow. We had so much fun together, and I found myself constantly looking forward to spending time with him. I remember going on dates with other guys, but always leaving feeling like I’d rather just be hanging out with Gavin instead. By the end of freshman year, the lines between friendship and something more had started to blur, and Gavin asked me out... but I said… no lol. I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, and I really didn’t want to risk our friendship. Gavin respected my wishes, but it didn’t take long for me to realize how much I actually liked him too. A couple of months later, I asked him out and thankfully, he said yes! We officially started dating in the Summer of 2014, and 11 years later, we’re still choosing each other every day. We’re not the same people we were when we first met- and that’s one of the things we love most about our story! We’ve had the privilege of growing up side by side, supporting each other through every version of ourselves, and continuing to fall in love over and over again along the way. Gavin *finally* proposed on 10/10/25, surrounded by butterflies, at the Cockrell Butterfly Exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The proposal was followed by champagne at Hermann Park, the most incredible dinner at Uchi Houston, and a road trip to Austin to dance and celebrate together at Austin City Limits Music Festival! Shout out to Disco Lines, T-Pain, Polo & Pan, John Summit, and The Killers for helping us celebrate! So here’s to over a decade of love, growth, adventure, and most importantly, so much FUN-with a lifetime more to come. Can't wait for 09/05/2026!!!!!!
