Their story starts in Napa; high school, Sophomore year. Both were asked to play a couple for a classmate’s digital media project. For him, it would be the first time he’s ever held another person’s hand. And for her, it would be the start of neverending butterflies you experience with young love. Though it all began with playing pretend, Algamae and Austin would find that the universe had grander plans for them than a chance meeting. Despite teachers playing cupid through purposeful project pairings and crushes left unsaid they graduated with no pomp or circumstance. However in 2015 – one year later – through a mutual friend, Austin and Algamae would find each other once again. And this time, neither would let the other get away. Small things became romantic memories. Waiting for lunch at the college cafe for his "favorite" sandwich became unsaid dates; trips shared to San Francisco to “save gas” were truly about the brief moments in each other’s company. On December 27, 2015, Algamae and Austin would become official. Through the ebbs and flows of life, they both found solace with one another. Austin and Algamae grew together into the people they now are. Navigating through a pandemic and learning to adapt to the changes of life that come with adulthood, they successfully established a life together with three wonderful cats. To celebrate, the couple went on a dream trip to Japan. Under the guise of meeting Austin’s childhood friend Ko, they traveled to Mt. Fuji for a few days. There, Algamae’s sister, Donna, and Ko suggested a great view of the mountain. Little did Algamae know that it would be what she had waited 10 years to see. Waiting was a gazebo overlooking the lake, decorated with flowers, lights and a decade of memories, and the person she can’t live without. Austin could hardly say those four important words before Algamae screamed “yes!"
