Our Beginning

September 23, 2019

After I finally got her number, we text and talked for a bit before going on our first date. We agreed to meet up at Big Whiskey’s bar & grill. I got there just a little later than she did. When I walked in Tanae was sitting at the bar, she had on a blue shirt with light blue jeans. We ate and talking about everything from family to personal goals and desires. It truly felt like we have known one another for years. We were really having a good time until one of the three guys in the restaurant passed out and fell on the floor, He was okay... just a little too much to drink lol. I remember leaving there and calling my cousin and told her this was the best date I ever been on. The rest is history…

The Proposal

January 16, 2021

Alfonso did an amazing job surprising me for the proposal. I received a message from my friend who is his cousin, inviting me to a sip and paint, girls’ night out. Little did I know, Alfonso had been working for months to plan the perfect proposal. All our family and friends received an invitation to our surprise engagement. He and his cousins worked to document every moment of the planning process to include (shopping for the event venue, the ring, asking my parents for their blessing and preparing his speech). Sadly, I showed up to sip and paint “my surprise engagement” fashionably late. However, when I got there I was beyond surprised. I was led to the front of a dark room to watch a video of all Alfonso's hard work. On this video he shared how we met, his feelings and all the steps/work that went in to planning everything. As he talked about our love, pictures of us on our journey together flashed on the screen, while his favorite song "God Bless the broken road' by Rascal Flatts played. Finally, the lights came on and there was Mr. Johnson (who was supposed to be working late). He took me by the hand, looked me in the eyes and shared his love for me/us. He asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him as his wife. I said, YES! To add to the amazing night, he even made sure my parents and aunts were there to surprise me in person and all our other family and friends were attending via zoom to share in the amazing moment. Alfonso and I are so excited about what God has in store for us in this season and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all. See you in October!
