Named after Catalan homonym mountain Montserrat) the cathedral dominates the city center of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. La Candelaria is a historic neighborhood in the city's downtown, it is the equivalent to the Old City in other cities. The architecture of the old houses, churches and buildings has Spanish Colonial, Baroque and art deco styles. It houses several universities, libraries and museums. Note. Try chicha, the indigenous predecessor of beer made out of corn.
Now a popular locality full of life, restaurants, music and street art, Usaquén name comes from the cacique Usaque, who was ruling the area of the southern Muisca as part of the Muisca Confederation. Note. Every Sunday morning a flea market takes place in the streets. There’s a smaller version every day as well.
