Alexys and Jp met at NSU where Alexys played soccer and Jp played baseball. Jp transferred in their Junior year and coincidentally moved in just down the hall from Alexys in the off campus apartments. Alexys would always try to park next to Jp's distinct 1996 F-150 in hopes that they would cross paths in the parking lot. She later learned Jp was doing the same thing although this was not as easy (white Jettas aren't exactly a rarity on a college campus). Alexys and Jp spent a lot of time together in the common area of the dorm doing homework and getting to know each other. This was a great first impression on Steph and Rich as Jp was suddenly big into his studies. Jp eventually asked Alexys on their first date to a Marlins game and they started officially dating in June 2019. Their time in Fort Lauderdale was spent going to El Camino for $2 tacos and $5 margaritas, watching The Office at Jp's apartment, and cheering each other on at their games. 2020 was the start of long distance for the two as Alexys decided to transfer for grad school and Jp finished out one more season of baseball at NSU while working towards playing professionally. They did their best to visit on off weekends and would FaceTime all the time. Jp graduated and was offered the opportunity to play pro. Off to Missouri he went and the distance grew greater. Alexys visited Jp a few times while he was playing for the Grizzlies. It was awesome to get to see him live out his dream and to explore a new place. During this time she was coaching at Orangetheory and working at Lululemon. When the season ended, Jp got his first taste of life in Jacksonville. They were so excited to be in the same place again even if it was for a short amount of time. A few weeks before Jp left for his second season, the two were at the beach with Karyn and Jeff. At this point, Alexys had a new job and was living in New Smyrna Beach. Alexys and Jeff met a guy with a black lab puppy who told them that the litter still had two puppies left. She convinced Jp to go "meet" the dogs and a few hours later they were at the store buying a crate and toys. Alexys really knew Jp was committed at that point. Having Jeter with her when he was away for the season made being apart a bit easier. When baseball came to an end, Jp got a job in Jax and they rented a house. It was a big change going from long distance to living together, but they navigated through very well. The year flew by and they really started picturing "forever" together. Jp took Alexys to look at rings (she has a habit of returning gifts and he wasn't taking any chances) but she really didn't know when he would "pop the question." On June 8th, a week after their five year anniversary, he told her they were going to try out a new brewery. He caught her totally off guard when he proposed and even more so when he surprised her with friends and family for a celebration after she said yes. It was a perfect day. A few months later they bought a house with a huge yard for Jeter. They spend lots of time on home projects but also enjoy trying out breweries and coffee shops, going to the farmers market, working out, and hanging out with their local friends. They are lucky to live only a few minutes away from some of their closest friends which is one of the best parts of living in Jacksonville. They are counting down the days until 2/7/26 and can't wait for what the future brings <3
