3,160 tons of water fall over the Niagara Falls per second! A must see if you haven’t been to Western New York.
Bar Bill Taven is undisputedly the best wings in Buffalo (actually in East Aurora but close enough). Best is defined as a ratio of sauce to crunchiness and Bar Bill’s are constantly landing top spot of any ranked list but as Alexxa says - we have no bad chicken wings in this area. Great runner ups that are closer to the wedding venue (in order of preference): Kelly's Korner, Gabriel's Gate, and Wingnuts. Make sure you get the blue cheese or you'll look a tourist.
For folks arriving early here are some recommendations for places to eat, most of these places are a short/nice walk or drive from the Richardson (ranked by how much Erik feels like eating there while typing this up): Fancy Dinner, Good Food(*might need a reservation): Inizio, Daniella, JT's, Hutch's, The Place, Toutant Less Fancy, Good Food: Southern Junction, Extra Extra, Kuni's, Parivaar, Lloyd Off the Wall, Good Food: Gypsy Parlor, Misuta Chows, Kelly's Korner, Mint Pubs, Good Food: Jackrabbit, Forty Thieves (before 6pm), Cole's, Colter Bay Good Breakfast: Five Points Bakery, Sophia's, Betty's, Jackrabbit Coffee Spots: Tipico, Overwinter, Spot
Elmwood Village is the neighborhood where we live and is just south of the Richardson hotel. There are beautiful old Victorian houses painted fun colors with fantastic gardens. Elmwood Ave has fun shops and restaurants to stop and get some food or drinks. Some of our favorite streets to walk down are Norwood, St. Catherine's, and Argyle. There is also the historic Olmstead Parkway system consisting of Lincoln, Chapin, and Bidwell Parkways which have beautiful houses and nice views. There is a privately owned Frank Llyod Wright house at the corner of Bird and Bidwell parkway which is fun to see.
Reopened in May 2023 after a 3.5 year remodel. Lots of cool exhibits to walk around and admire. My (Alexxa’s) favorite was the mirrored room and “the tree” by Agnes Martin
Buffalo is a drinking town with a sports problem. Elmwood village has a ton of fun bars to visit. Erik and Alexxa both recommend McGarret's and Goodbar as our favorite dive bars in our neighborhood. If you are looking for something more upscale check out The Place or High Violet for some good cocktails.
Butter Block is in the five-points neighborhood of Buffalo and they make awesome croissants, highly recommended stop while taking a walk around town.
