FAQs

Question

What's the plan?

Answer

Alex and Lara will be staying at a house in a central location in Playa Langosta. This will be our home for the week and everyone is more than welcome to join us by the pool for cervezas, snacks, and enjoy each others company.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Playa Tamarindo is where our venue is located, but we'll be staying at the next beach over called Playa Langosta. It's about a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive on dirt roads between both 'towns' but you'll have access to restaurants, bars, and groceries! If you're confused about where to stay, shoot us an email or a text.

Question

What is the transportation situation?

Answer

We'll be providing transportation to and from the Liberia airport. For any of you wanting to stay longer (which you absolutely should!) we recommend renting a car. If you are arriving in San Jose, please reach out to us and we'll coordinate transportation for you. Please email alexwonthelattery@gmail.com with flight itineraries if you would like to be part of group transport.

Question

I want to rent a car, do you have recommendations?

Answer

Yes! We have a 20% discount code with National. Follow this link to make a booking: https://www.natcar.com/?ref=tropicalcode

Question

Cash or Credit Card?

Answer

Either, but we recommend you bring $150-200 cash just in case. We recommend ATMs for better exchange rates.

Question

When should I purchase flights?

Answer

It's the start of dry season in Costa Rica, which means blue skies, high temperatures, and a wonderful breeze. This also means it's peak season for tourism. We recommend setting a travel alert for flights to keep an eye out for prices. On a good day, tickets (from the US) can be $750 roundtrip and if you wait too long, twice as much.

Question

We want to rent a house instead!

Answer

To rent a house in Tamarindo, please plan to make a reservation at least 8 months in advance. Please reach out to our fabulous wedding planner, Kirsten at kirsten@thetropicalcode.com for recommendations.

Question

Flying solo? Join the party!

Answer

We want our friends to get to know each other, so don't be shy and reach out so we can add you to the What's App group. If you're interested in finding travel buddies or car rental friends, this is a great opportunity for you to get acquainted with everyone before we're all there.

Question

Do I need to know Spanish?

Answer

Playa Tamarindo is a tourist town and most restaurants and bars will have a menu in English. If you want to brush up on your Spanish skills, Duo-lingo is very helpful! You can also download the Google Translate app for live translation.
