White Sands National Monument
White Sands National Monument is what it sounds like! Miles of white gypsum sand dunes in Alamogordo, about a 3.5 hour drive from Albuquerque but worth the visit if you are from out of town (you're already here- why not!?)
Carlsbad Caverns National Park
Again, Carlsbad Caverns is a must see if you are from out of town- especially if you made your way to White Sands because it is very close! More than 119 caves in total with bats and cavey goodness!
Bandelier National Monument
Bandelier is an archaeological site where you can see old cave dwellings and go on some hikes :) It is a bit of a drive
