We recommend arriving first in Santa Cruz de la Sierra or La Paz. The most common airlines to travel to Bolivia are: Copa Airlines (Recommendation #1), BOA, and Avianca. Currently, U.S. citizens no longer need a visa to enter Bolivia. Even so, we recommend checking the requirements based on your passport and country of origin. We suggest arriving in Bolivia the weekend before the wedding so you can explore a bit of this incredible country. (We highly recommend visiting the Uyuni Salt Flats!!) For Tarija, we recommend that everyone arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday morning, as the events begin on Wednesday. If you would like travel recommendations or route suggestions, feel free to ask us!
Domestic flights to Tarija can be booked with BOA (Boliviana de AviaciĂłn): đ https://www.boa.bo Please contact our wedding planner to help coordinate your travel. Important: There is no Uber in Tarija. Taxis are paid in Bolivianos. Our wedding planner can help you arrange transportation if needed.
We recommend the following hotels in Tarija: ⢠Los Parrales (we have preferential rates here) ⢠Los Ceibos For reservations, please contact our wedding planner via WhatsApp (+59164708507). Another great option is Airbnb Ideally, you should stay: ⢠In the city of Tarija ⢠Near Plaza Luis de Fuentes or Plaza Sucre ⢠Or at one of the hotels mentioned above
Bolivia is an incredibly diverse country and absolutely worth exploring. We recommend: La Paz: viewpoints, mountains, and spectacular landscapes (the bride and groom are from there!), as well as Copacabana Uyuni Salt Flats: one of the most famous places in the worldâif you can go, you wonât regret it Santa Cruz: modern, warm, with malls and excellent restaurants (the âMiamiâ of Bolivia) Tarija: vineyards, friendly people, and great food (the groomâs family is from here!) About food: ⢠Eat at restaurants rather than street vendors (not because itâs bad, but because your stomach may not be used to it) ⢠Try our meat, traditional dishes, wine, and beer If youâve seen any tours or activities online that interest you, let us know and weâll help you find good contacts and fair prices.
The local currency is the Boliviano (BOB). Cards are accepted in many places, but carrying cash can often be cheaper. There is no Uber in Tarija, but it is available in La Paz and Santa Cruz. If you have any questions about money or payments, feel free to ask us.
Remember that Bolivia is in the Southern Hemisphere, so it wonât be winterâit will be summer âď¸ It will be warm, but it may rain, so we recommend bringing a light jacket. Dress code: Wedding: Formal Welcome Cocktail: Garden semi-formal
