Our favorite place for bike rides and picnics with Montego. Fun fact: the park was built on top of a historic cemetery. Check out the Secret Garden Cafe for coffee, cocktails and appetizers on the park's northside.
The History Colorado center also happens to be Acoma's place of work! Located just over a mile away from the wedding venues, this museum features beautiful exhibits about Colorado's rich history. Make sure to check out Acoma's newly reimagined exhibit on Lincoln Hills, a nationally significant African American vacation destination located an hour west of Denver!
The Cherry Creek Trail is separated bike and walking path that accompanies Cherry Creek. If you rent a bike or scooter, you can ride the trail for miles, meandering past murals, waterfalls, and eventually connecting with the Platte River. Even if you don't have access to a bike, it is still a lovely place for a stroll. Bonus points if you spot a rainbow trout.
About 16 miles from downtown Denver, Red Rocks is worth seeing if you can find the time. In addition to the amphitheater (which is open to the public outside of concert hours), there are beautiful trails for those looking for a short hike.
A stunning state park on the southside of the Denver metro! Perfect for a short hike.
If you are looking for a mountain excursion that is accessible via public transit, Chautauqua Park is a great option! The Flatiron Flyer bus line runs about every 30 minutes from Union Station in Denver to downtown Boulder. We highly recommend checking out the shops and restaurants along Pearl Street if you make the trip to Boulder.
If you are spending an extra day or two in Denver and rented a car, the Georgetown Loop historic railroad is an incredible way to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Only 50 minutes from downtown Denver, the Georgetown Loop train circles the Georgetown Valley with panoramic views of the mountains. Georgetown is a lovely small town, with great options for grabbing lunch.
Some of our favorite hiking in the Rockies. If you are staying an extra day or two and are looking for some mountain exploration, this is a great option. Parking needs to be reserved in advance on recreation.gov. It's a beautiful hour and a half drive from Denver. Keep an eye out for moose!
