Just 8 minutes away from the Drey hotel is a great combination of urban community development, local museums, and fun food options. On the periphery you'll find the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Museum of Asian Art. Also food trucks and a Mi Cocina. The Dallas Aquarium and Perot Science Museum are only about a 10 minute walk away. For those willing to hoof it a bit further for a bit of history in person, Dealey plaza and the JFK museum are within a 20 minute walk.
This place has everything: beer, wines, frozen drinks served in an upcycled shipping container, signature graffiti décor from local artists, 30 outdoor tv sets for sports nights, stunning views of downtown Dallas and Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, open-air seating all day and all night, centrally located among several famous trinity groves eateries, qr codes at every table for easy online ordering at trinity groves restaurants
Why IS there a giant eyeball in Downtown Dallas? I don't know, but it's pretty iconic. Once you've seen it, grab a bagel from Starship Bagel (open until 1 pm); they were crowned “Best Bagel” at the 2023 NY BagelFest. Miss the bagel window? Hop over to The Woolworth for a fancy cocktail. www.starshipbagel.com www.thewoolworthdallas.com
Want to see the more "Texas" side of the DFW Metroplex? If you're willing to take a road trip "Across town" (about an hour from the Drey hotel), Downtown Fort Worth and the Stockyards & Rodeo offer a bit more "Yee haw!" than you might find in Dallas. That's not all though; outside of the boot stores and long horns of Sundance Square, you will find some great museums, an awesome zoo, tasty BBQ, and the beautiful Fort Worth Botanical gardens. (Not to be confused with the wedding location in the Dallas Arboretum!)
