FAQs

The Wedding Website of Alexis Kilhof and Lowell Anderson
Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! A passport is required for travel to the Dominican Republic. If you do not already have a passport please be sure to apply for one early. The application process is generally quick and simple, but it can take several months for approval and delivery of the passport book. If you already have a passport please be sure to check your expiration date and keep in mind when your passport is due for renewal. The Dominican Republic requires your passport to be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the date of your arrival. This means renewal may be required before the expiration date on your passport!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids but thought you might like a few nights off. Adults only please!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by January 19, 2025 to our wedding website. All security deposits for resort suites should be secured through TravelTK by this date as well. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Lex or Lowell at any time for additional information regarding this deadline.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please notify the concierge during your check-in at the resort of any food allergies or special diets that should be considered during your stay as well as at our wedding.

Question

What kind of room block do you have?

Answer

In order to make our wedding and vacation more flexible for our friends and family, we have decided to go with a group code for our bookings rather than a traditional room block. By doing so, you will be able to book your vacation for as short or as long as you wish while still being linked to our wedding reservation with our special group code. This will allow you full access to all of our special events and locations while being able to customize your vacation to your budget and needs. Please keep in mind that while our group code will offer you the flexibility to build your vacation as you please, it DOES NOT lock in room rates like a traditional room block does. This is why it is VERY important to contact our travel agent Tricia ASAP to provide your room deposit and lock in your rate.

Question

How much does a room deposit cost?

Answer

While your deposit may vary depending on room type and category, a majority of bookings can simply be reserved with a $50 deposit and prepaying for vacation protection if you elect to do so. While travel protection is not a requirement, it is always recommended! By securing your room with the $50 deposit you will lock in your room rate for your vacation and can develop a payment plan best for you and your budget. Please keep in mind that your initial vacation deposit will cost more than the $50 room deposit with each item you elect to add on at the time of booking- vacation protection, flights, excursions, etc. Dreams Onyx tends to sell out quickly, so we recommend securing your suite as soon as possible with your deposit.

Question

If I book in the standard room category will I still have access to all of your wedding events?

Answer

YES! If you choose to book within the standard room category rather than the preferred club room category you will still have full access to all of our wedding events. We have chosen to host a couple of our wedding events within preferred club sections. This is why it is crucial for you to book through our dedicated wedding travel agent to be linked with our wedding group code. This will allow you access to all of our wedding events regardless of your room category bookings. Please keep in mind though that you will only have access to the preferred club area for that specific wedding event and for that allotted timeframe. You will not be given full access to the preferred club for your entire stay unless you choose to pay for that room category upgrade.

Question

Is there a dress code for the resort?

Answer

During the day have fun in the sun with swimsuits, flip-flops, and your favorite hat. Just be sure to bring a bathing suit wrap or cover up to wear for lunch. Evening wear for the resort is typically classified as “casual elegance.” This includes tennis shoes, dress shoes, or nice sandals paired with sundresses, khaki shorts/pants, casual button down, or collared shirt. The main rule of the resort for dinner is simply no bathing suits and no sleeveless shirts for men. One or two of the restaurants may require long pants (such as khakis or dress pants) for men.

Question

Is there a dress code for your wedding?

Answer

While we want to maintain a fun and relaxing atmosphere, we do request semi-formal or cocktail attire for our wedding. Here are some ideas- For women: dresses of any length, skirts, suits, rompers, or jumpsuits in any color or pattern. Sandals, heels, flats, and wedges are welcome as well. For Men: suits, jackets, sport coats and ties are not required, but are welcomed. Long sleeve or short sleeve button downs with khaki pants, chinos, slacks or dress pants. These items paired with loafers, deck shoes, or dress shoes are great options. *Please avoid denim, cargo, swim wear, and T-shirts. We simply want you to look your best while remaining comfortable. Question

When should we arrive to the resort?

Answer

Whenever you would like! With our wedding date being Thursday April 3rd, 2025, bride and groom are required to arrive on Monday March 31st, 2025, to finalize all wedding plans with our dedicated wedding coordinator. Guests are able to arrive any day before or after the bride and groom and can stay for as long or short as they would like. We picked a Thursday wedding date to allow guests the opportunity to stay for a long weekend or transform this into a week-long vacation if they choose to do so! Along with the wedding night and excursion (optional) we will plan a welcome dinner on Wednesday April 2nd (also optional) but a good way to meet everyone and toast to the next day! We want this to be an enjoyable and relaxing vacation for everyone!
