One July evening in 2019, Alexis and her friend Katie, decided to go pick up dinner at Peg Leg Porker in the Gulch neighborhood of downtown Nashville after a day spent at the pool. The plan was finish off their Saturday with some BBQ and call it an early night. Oddly enough, J.R. and his roommate Jake, also spent their Saturday at their apartment complex's pool. As the sun went down, Jake convinced J.R. to walk to the rooftop bar across the street from their apartment . The plan was to have a drink or two at the L.A. Jackson bar before J.R. had to accompany Jake on his Tinder date to make sure she wasn't a murderer. Jake and J.R. started their 100 foot journey to the bar across the street, when all of a sudden, they both heard someone shouting J.R.'s name. Surprised, J.R. saw two girls down the street, one of them yelling "J.R.!". It was Katie! Katie and J.R. were friends in college at the University of Illinois, and this was the first time crossing paths in their new home of Nashville. While Katie and J.R. caught up after making introductions, Jake was convincing Alexis to join them at the bar for just one cocktail. With hesitation, Alexis and Katie agreed and came up to the rooftop bar for just that one cocktail....to start. That one cocktail turned into a few more with J.R.'s and Alexis's interest in one another becoming increasingly more apparent. J.R. offered to go get the next round of drinks, and Alexis quickly volunteered to join. Alone at the bar, J.R. and Alexis took a tequila shot, looked into each other eyes and both knew that other person would be special. Phone numbers were exchanged, and the rest they say is history.
