Our Story

Our story began in the spring of 2016, when two college students from different universities happened to cross paths. Alexis was attending San Diego State University, and I was at Cal State University Fullerton. Though we were at different schools, we were both members of the Latino Business Student Association (LBSA) and belonged to sister chapters of the organization. On May 17, 2016, our paths crossed for the first time at an event my chapter hosted in Long Beach. Our interaction was brief, but it was enough to make an impression on both of us. Fast forward a few months to September 17, 2016, and we were both at a beach clean-up event hosted by LBSA. It was after the cleanup, just outside a Red Robin, that Alexis made a move. We started talking, laughing, and something clicked—it was a spark neither of us could ignore. After a few more dates, I knew I wanted Alexis to be a big part of my life. On December 27, 2016, I finally asked her to be my girlfriend. I was incredibly nervous; my heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of my chest. Thankfully, she said yes, and we began our journey together. Over the years, we supported each other’s goals, grew together, and shared countless memories. Then, seven years later, on December 27, 2023, I took Alexis back to San Diego, the city where we had spent so much time together during college. With the same nervous excitement and my heart racing just as it did the first time, I asked her to marry me. She said yes, and now we’re thrilled to start the next chapter of our lives together. We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you! -Josue
