The ceremony and reception are scheduled to be in the courtyard located outside of the mansion itself. As the Louisiana weather IS unpredictable, the Elm’s is a massive location with multiple options. The inside of the mansion is two stories, with a separate dining area and bar. The ceremony will either be moved inside, or the event tent will be set up outside incase rain is predicted but not certain. Rain or shine, the inside of the mansion will be open for our guests if you choose to stay indoors. The food will be located inside of the mansion as well as an open bar in the ballroom.
About 4 & 1/2 hours. The ceremony will be approximately 15-20 minutes, followed by the reception. Ceremony will begin at 7:00pm, and reception will close at 11:00pm.
This answer was decided for us by the venue. For their safety, and requirement by law, no children are allowed under the age of 21 with the exception of the wedding party. We will have multiple open bars, uncensored music, and it is intended to be an adult event.
Yes, absolutely yes. You do not have to bring your physical invitation, but please snap a photo, bring the envelope, or have some physical proof that you were invited to join us at the celebration of our marriage. The bride and groom will not be able to see or greet you at the time of your arrival and the location we have chosen is located directly on St. Charles Ave. It is a very public location, and our security needs to make sure you were legitimately invited, and not a tourist from off of the street. It is in everyone’s best interest as far as efficiency and safety.
The ceremony will commence at 7:00pm. It will take place for 20-30 minutes. After the ceremony, guests are free to roam the grounds, as well as the inside of the mansion. There will be food located inside of the mansion with an open bar in the ballroom, and outside hors d’oeuvres and cocktail foods will be served, as well as a second open bar. There will be a DJ scheduled to play from 7:00pm-10:00pm. As the venue is located near a neighborhood we must respect the noise level for the residents and conclude the loud music after 10:00pm. The reception will NOT CONCLUDE after the DJ retires. Guests are free to eat and drink outside if they wish, but there will be continued food, music, and drinks inside of the mansion until 11:00pm.
Although there will be an open bar/ complimentary food and beverages, we recommend tipping your bartenders and servers. There will be a money dance that takes place with the bride and groom during the reception as well.
There are many parallel streets that run along where the Elms is located and it is fairly easy to find a spot. Parking is complimentary, but if you’re planning on drinking we recommend grabbing a taxi or Uber! Being on St. Charles there’s always one around.
