FAQs

Question

Money exchange rate?

Answer

USD is worth double the local Bajan currency. 2:1 ration So $10 USD is worth $20 BBD.

Question

Cash to bring?

Answer

I recommend traveling with denominations between 5 and 20 (5s, 10s, and 20s). These bills are easier to spend while visiting. Shops and locals do not seem to like $1 bills, and 50s and 100s can be tricky to break or spend because some places do not have enough change. No USD coins are accepted as legal tender in any establishment.

Question

Communication?

Answer

I would recommend using "WhatsApp," as it is an app that everyone in Barbados and everyone outside the continental US uses to communicate. This will help when booking activities or making any kind of reservation. I added a link below to help make downloading it easier. I will also try to create a group chat with everyone who has RSVP'd and is definitely coming, so I can communicate more easily and share updates on wedding events, activities, outings, fetes, jouverts, etc., as they are posted and happen. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997

Question

What is the best way to get around?

Answer

Taxi and Uber are a good way to get around the country if you do not want to rent a vehicle. I have listed a taxi service that can be used. I recommend booking your taxi between 12 and 24 hours in advance, as "island time" is how life is lived, and wait times may be longer. Ex. 1 hour could be 3 hours, so please plan accordingly.

Answer

Let's go together! If you're interested in participating in some of the listed and unlisted island activities, please contact me at (719.468.1122) or JP at (1.246.826.4223) so I can coordinate, book, and organize a group trip. The wedding will be around the time the island is preparing for the crop over season (Kadooment Day - 8.7.26), so it's crucial that we try to book these activities at least 3 months in advance, ideally by March 2026.

Question

How to preview places before going?

Answer

I honestly recommend using Instagram to look up any place you're interested in so you can see a visual of the menu, food, layout, and more. Social media is a major platform for businesses on the island to promote themselves. You can often find phone numbers and addresses, and even make reservations, through their social media profiles.

Question

Immigration form? Link included below

Answer

Please be sure to fill out the immigration form 24 hours before landing on the island. This will help to make getting through customs much easier. If you wait until you land in Barbados, it is usually tricky to get Wi-Fi or internet on the plane. Once you have completed the form, you will get a downloadable PDF you can show them, or it will go to your email, and you will show them that. If you completely forget to do it before arriving, that's fine; they will direct you to use a kiosk to get it done. Completing the form beforehand helps eliminate the need to wait in line at a kiosk. You may need to copy and paste this into your browser. https://www.travelform.gov.bb/en/create
