I'm certain everyone is tired of hearing about COVID-19, but without it, Lexi would never have seen that Iowa boy's face pop up on a Zoom call in August of 2020. They met in person for the first time the day Lexi moved into her freshman dorm room at UW-Platteville, after her parents had just left and her father had told her that morning, "Don't get a boyfriend right away." Lexi and Jacob's first date began after Jacob had sent her a sketchy picture of the corner of the cemetery where they were to meet for Jacob's grand tour of campus. After a successful tour, Lexi thought it would be smart to head to a stranger's house and watch a horror movie, Jeeper's Creepers, which turned out to be one of the best, and probably not the smartest, decisions of her life. Throughout college, Jacob and Lexi competed for the UW-Platteville track & field team, made lots of ice cream runs to Culver's, and played Wii Sports religiously. In May 2022, Jacob graduated and moved to the Quad Cities, which began their 2 year long-distance journey, until Lexi graduated in May 2024. After Lexi graduated, she moved in with Jacob into their first apartment together in Bettendorf, IA. Their engagement story began when they decided to go to Indiana for Christmas. Prior to the engagement, Lexi unknowingly tried to sabotage her engagement with the following: deciding they would take her car to Indiana and causing Lexi's sister, Grace, and her friend, Libby, to obtain the decor instead of Jacob; attempting to take Grace's car, where the decor was hidden, to the gym; repeatedly asking what time on Christmas Day they were leaving to go to her Bledsoe grandparents' house; almost getting out of bed to check on her parent's dog, Hank, who was barking at Jacob and Grace as they were setting up the engagement spot; going downstairs, without the knowledge of her sister or mom, to get her lipstick from Jacob's coat pocket two seconds after he came inside from taking the ring out to the spot; and worrying about who was grabbing the presents as they made their way outside on Christmas morning to take pictures her sister had suggested. As Lexi followed her sister outside with Jacob by her side, she noticed the rose petals in the yard leading to the most beautiful spot where Jacob proposed and Lexi immediately said "The ring is upside down, but yes!" Since their engagement, Jacob and Lexi bought a house in Davenport, IA in April 2025.
