The Beginning

Alexis and Hoang first met during Super Bowl weekend, when the game was hosted in Houston. Hoang was visiting from California, where he was finishing up school, and Alexis was a student at the University of Houston, out enjoying a night in Midtown with friends. That night, they both ended up at a bar called Drinkery. Hoang had planned to be his friend’s wingman, but when he saw Alexis, he decided to take a chance and say hello. He offered to buy her a drink, but before they had the chance to enjoy it, Alexis’s friends were already heading to the next spot. As luck would have it, they crossed paths again later that night and exchanged numbers. They stayed in touch while Hoang wrapped up school in California, and after graduating and moving back to Houston, he finally asked Alexis on their first official date—bowling. And that’s where their story began.

The Bachelorette: Alexis' Final Rose

Alexis woke up to find Hoang and Bud weren’t around, but instead there was a beautiful bouquet of peonies and a note titled “The Bachelorette: Alexis Edition.” The note laid out a day full of surprises with all her favorite people, leading up to something important. Throughout the day, Alexis met with each group of friends and family and was given a single red rose by each person, just like on the show The Bachelorette. First, her best friends Hannah and Gabby took her to get her nails done. Later, her close friends Mayra and Shaira joined her for their usual Saturday walk in Memorial Park. They talked about how surreal the day felt and how long she’d been waiting for this moment. She then met her mom’s family for brunch at her favorite spot, where they shared a few laughs about keeping the plan a secret. That evening, her dad’s family gathered for dinner. Her siblings were especially excited and shared how much they cared for Hoang and supported their relationship. Finally, Hoang’s family gave her the last red rose before driving her to a gazebo decorated with roses and a violinist playing softly nearby. Bud was there too, dressed up in a little tuxedo. At the end of the aisle stood Hoang, smiling as he asked Alexis to marry him—and she happily said yes.
