Alexis and Glen met over the phone when Alexis applied to write for Dance Music Northwest (the music and nightlife company Glen founded in 2013). Alexis remembers being overwhelmed by how much she liked the sound of Glen's voice and the passion he shared for his work in music. It was the beginning of a friendship that blossomed into a deep, rewarding love.
Alexis had been on a trip home to Idaho, and missed Glen. They had been seeing each other regularly at Dance Music Northwest team work nights. Alexis texted him and told him that she was looking forward to seeing him at the next team work night. He said "Me too!" She texted back "No - I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing you". The point was clear. Shortly after, on a nighttime walk through Cal Anderson Park near Glen's Capitol Hill home, we held hands and kissed for the first time, and the rest is history.
On our 7-year anniversary, we went out for dinner at one of our favorite spots, Terra Plata. It was a warm June evening, part of a Seattle heat wave. Glen suggested that after dinner that they take a reminiscent walk through Cal Anderson Park. While walking through the park, watching the people enjoying the beautiful summer evening, we paused to reflect on how much the Park meant to us. Glen got down on one knee, opened a beautiful wooden box, and Alexis if she would marry him. She said yes! (obviously) After waving to our adoring fans cheering us on in the park, we floated over to Oddfellows Cafe and shared a bottle of champagne. We sat street-side answering questions about our engagement and basked in the happy moment. It was and continues to be a wonderful memory.
