We locked eyes across the bar and lets just say I noticed him noticing me & he noticed me noticing him. Now, I'll be the first to admit, I don't know a thing about football but I was wearing a Cardinals Patrick Peterson Jersey. I can only assume Gio thought he was meeting the girl of his dreams & he used the jersey as his in. We chatted it up & when it came time to leave, Gio made sure I gave him my number... We all know how convincing he can be. The very next day, after exchanging a few flirty text messages, I was on my way out the front door to meet Gio & his friends. And the rest is history.....well almost. I got all dolled up when I had what some of you might call, a come to Jesus moment. What the hell was I doing going out to meet a stranger, who I met at a bar, who lives across the country. This could only end 2 possible ways & neither of them were good. I made up an excuse & let Gio know I would not be coming. That should have been the end of it but text messages turned into phone calls, & phone calls turned into face times. 2 months later & after some serious social media stalking I was on a plane across the country to visit someone who I met in a bar, but who no longer seemed like such a stranger.
That was the night I met the love of my life and my heart was snatched off the market. I was in Phoenix that week on business and went to a work dinner that Thursday night. I ended up in Old Town with a few buddies of mine. As the night progressed, I came across this little petite Latina women who could not keep her eyes off me. She was wearing a Patrick Peterson Jersey with Jeans and looked extremely well put together. We eventually locked eyes and she clearly tried to play it off as if she were not undressing me from a far. At this point, I had no choice but to make my move. I referenced her jersey and made a comment about that being an LSU great. That totally went over her head and I am pretty sure she was not paying any attention to what I was saying. I came to this conclusion because the only reaction I kept getting from Alexis was a cheesy smile and head nod to everything I was saying (for the record her smile is my favorite attribute of hers). Either she was immediately smitten by my remarkable looks or had a few too many adult beverages. At this point it is safe to assume it was the former and quite possibly the latter as well. As we got to know each other, I had to break it to her that I was living in Louisville at the time. This immediately broke her heart, as Alexis figured there was no way this handsome of a man would be locked down from a distance. We exchanged numbers and kept in touch. As she left the bar, I gave her a kiss good bye on the hand as the gentleman that I am (total game changer). We ultimately were able to make our long-distance relationship work and things fell into place the way they were suppose too. Alexis has made me a better man and I am so grateful to have found the love of my life. I could not be more blessed with a better soulmate.
