The Flynns and Oppenheimers first met in the early 90s when Leo's taekwondo instructor introduced them and it was friendship at first sight. Alexis was 5 and Chet was 14, so needless to say, the romance didn't start for a few more decades. After running into each other at a gas station 10 years ago, they became fast friends-- sharing art, music and a general appreciation for creative endeavors. Eventually, the long-distance friendship became a long-distance romance at Hal and Amy's wedding when Alexis invited Chet on an impromptu vacation to Block Island... although she felt like he was ruining a really good friendship by trying to date her. Alexis was starting grad school that fall so the timing was less than ideal! Through lots of patience (mostly on Chet's part) and love, they managed to make it through the distance, stress of school, and several very small New York apartments. Moving back to their shared hometown of Kansas City has brought many new and exciting things, namely their first home together (which they are renovating now) and their marriage!
