HOW WE MET

9.10.2019

Long story short, we met on Catholic match! But also here's the long story... lol I do like to tell this story because it's extra special to me! (Alexis) We had both been doing the whole online dating thing for awhile... and it wasn't going well lol. I remember Bryan had liked my profile at one point, but I was so fed up that I stopped paying attention to it for a couple of months. Also during this time, my Grandpa had been declining and wasn't supposed to be around for much longer. His memory and awareness was very sparse, but he kept talking about two things up until he passed away. He kept asking if I had gotten my new job yet (I was applying to Alternatives at the time), and the other was that my family needed to find me a husband.. in the most endearing way possible! He knew I had always wanted to be a wife and mom so he knew that meant a lot to me :) SO, fast forward a couple of months later and I decided to get back on Catholic Match to give it one more try! I saw Bryan's profile again and liked it back. The very next day, my Grandpa passed away and I drove home to be with my family. Later that night as I was driving back to Kalamazoo, I felt a huge weight lift off of me knowing that my Grandpa was in a better place and no longer suffering... and then Bryan messaged me! We actually ended up talking on the phone that night and we connected instantly! The very next morning, I got a called from my now boss that I had gotten my new job :) So needless to say... I give credit to God for bringing us together and writing our story.. but I also like to give some credit to my Grandpa :) Bryan and I talked for exactly two weeks before we met in person. We had our first date in Ann Arbor where Bryan was living and as we soon as saw each other, it was instant match! And we've pretty much been inseparable since! :)

HOW HE PROPSED

8.22.2020

Bryan and I knew we were going to get married pretty soon after we started dating. And I knew he was going to be proposing... I just didn't know when lol But my family planned a trip to go to Frankenmuth, MI for my grandmas birthday. I actually think it was my idea. lol BUT, if you know me.... you know I LOOOOOOOVE Christmas and the worlds largest Christmas store (Bronners) is located in Frankenmuth! (Keep in mind that I honestly had no idea... Even though Bronner's is one of my absolute favorite places to be, I thought it would be toooooo obvious, so Bryan wouldn't propose there lol). SO, we're walking around the store and Bryan said we should go look at the Christmas trees... again if you know me... you know I can never have enough Christmas trees so OF COURSE I'm going to go look at the Christmas tree forest haha. We pass by this white tree and Bryan asked if I liked it.... but being me and the Christmas tree snob that I am... I said, "No, I don't like this one". To which he said, "Are you sure?". And again I said, "No, it's too thin! I don't like it". lol And then he asked if I liked the ornament that was hanging in the tree. I had totally missed the ornament because it was up high and well... I'm short! lol. But I looked up and there was a green ornament that said 'Alexis, will you marry me?'. And then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I cried, and obviously said yes! :) My mom, sister, and grandma were there and Bryan had called ahead and had staff from Bronners make the ornament before we got there :) It's was the cutest and most perfect proposal!
