How We Met

"Watch out for snakes!"

Spring of 2011 the trees are getting greener, the flowers are blooming, and so was our love. At the time we were both working as Archaeologists at the Indiana Jones Adventure searching for hidden treasure, unearthing century old temples, asking guests to buckle their seat belts, and discovering an undeniable infatuation with each other. Not only was I excited to go into work every day and see that smile of hers, but I had something to look forward to everyday after work. Hours and hours spent on each other's chests talking about life and speaking of what the future held for us; not our future together because we were both afraid to admit that by then we had fallen in love, but where we wanted our lives to lead. Those dreams and aspirations soon became one. On September 22, 2011 we started our lives together officially. The Happiest Place on Earth isn't Disneyland; it's in our home on a rainy day with coffee, books, and her. -April

The Proposal

Central Park, New York

So back in October of 2017, April & I were getting that itch to travel again. We had been to New York in March already, but it was unbearably cold and we had always dreamt of visiting in the fall. I convinced her(or so I thought) to take a last minute trip, and November 15th we were on a plane. Day 2, we had planned to go to Central Park. April suggested we go early so it wasn't flooded with tourists, and I agreed. We woke up at the crack of dawn, and made our way to Starbucks (Because no morning is complete without it). Anyway, April spent a LONG time in the bathroom, like, way too long. I figured she was pooping so I just took a seat and enjoyed my chai & the view. She finally came out and ordered us an Uber to Central Park. She wanted to get there at 9, and when the Uber cancelled on us, she started getting really frustrated. She got all flustered & said, "Alright we don't have time for this, let's get a cab! We gotta go!" Little did I know, the photographer she hired was secretly waiting for us. Central Park was absolutely beautiful. It was a cool, crisp morning, and the golden glow of the fall foliage surrounded us. April wanted to go to Bow Bridge, one of our favorite spots, first. I was straggling behind, snapping photos every chance I got. April rushed ahead, & I kept yelling out, "Hang on! It's so pretty! I'm trying to take photos!" She was SO insistent that we go to Bow Bridge first. She grabbed me by the hand & we walked to the bridge. Once there, we took a couple selfies, & she told me to turn and look at the city so she could take a cute photo of me. I turned around, and she was down on one knee. AHHH! I had no idea and was SO surprised! She said so many things that I can't remember because I was just staring into her eyes and in awe of how beautiful and happy she looked. At one point she stopped her speech and through tears said, "God you're so pretty!" (I definitely remember that part). I told her I loved, said yes, and here we are today. -Alexis
