On December 7, 2025, Alex asked me to go for a simple daytime ride through his property, just the two of us and our horses. I woke up that morning feeling unusually emotional and deeply thankful for everything I had, without knowing why. The only thing that felt out of place was how insistent he was that we go ride. I should have guessed it then, especially with a party to host later that day and a house full of things left to do. But Alex insisted we had time for a ride. I finished up at the house and met him halfway, never suspecting a thing. We rode around the property and eventually ended up on our riding pad. He began pointing out where we might build a barn someday and where our home would be. After a quiet moment, he said, “If we’re really going to do this, and you’re sure, then I need to ask you something.” He stepped off his horse, but funnily enough, he couldn’t figure out how to get me off mine. After he finally managed that, he pulled me into a hug and then got down on one knee. As I stood there, completely stunned and staring at the most beautiful ring, our horses were busy being absolute menaces in the background, rearing up and striking at one another, but I didn’t notice a thing. In that moment, the world fell quiet, and it was just us. I said yes without hesitation, completely in shock. A second later, the ugly tears started streaming down my face.
