Groom
Edwin was born in Sylmar, California. He grew up most of his life in California but that changed after his 4 years through college in Walla Walla, Washington. Edwin happened to go about his business while he was taking an Immunology course. Somehow, unbeknownst to him, Alexis had been observing him while he was exiting class. As fate would have it, he performed a science experiment for the elementary school where Alexis was a TA. She noticed and recognized him and could not hold back from talking to him. The rest is history. P.S. Alexis may say that this story is skewed and it did not happen this way but she just doesn't remember all the details as well as I do. Edited by Alexis: this is definitely not the case. He followed me on instagram and I had no idea who this dude was, but thought he was cute and gave him a chance to impress me.
Bride
Alexis was born and raised in Neodesha Kansas. She is the youngest of her 2 sisters. Her family moved to Kennewick, Wa when she was around 15 years old for her dads job. She then attended Walla Walla Valley Academy and after that went to Walla Walla University which is where she met Edwin. He happened to be doing a science experiment with the 3rd graders Alexis had been a TA for. She also later found out that Edwin had a class right before her's that was in the same classroom, where she unknowingly crossed paths with Edwin everyday, sitting in the seat in front of him. After making Edwin homemade cookies and Edwin making her a smoothie, they have been inseparable since. Edwin keeps his side of the story a secret, so hopefully we will get that out of him on the wedding day. Alexis' assumption is Edwin had eyes on her when she was sitting in front of him everyday, since Edwin's class was right before hers and he would always be the last one in there...probably waiting to cross paths with Alexis...
Best Man
The older brother and the best man of the groom. Edwin is 6 years younger than Josue and had a tendency to annoy him growing up. Edwin, teasingly, would throw nails at Josue while he was up in the tree house. Josue would chase Edwin around the entire house to teach him a lesson but to no avail. Fortunate for Edwin, Josue would always be the one to get in trouble.
Matron of Honor
Regan is Alexis older sister. Growing up Regan and Alexis spent a lot of their time together doing nails, hair, and watching movies. Regan was always the one staying up late painting Alexis nails, doing cornrows in her hair, doing DIY's, and everything else crafty that you can think of...while alexis hand was either going numb from sitting in one position waiting on her nails or falling asleep while her hair was getting braided. Alexis always remembers Regan letting her hang out with her in her car and when she was with her friends. When Regan was old enough to move out of the house she always let Alexis come spend time with her whenever. Regan would always be cooking some good food for them to eat while Alexis always wanted to hold one of Regans girls, Alexis' nieces. Alexis chose Regan to be her Matron of Honor because she is her oldest sister and no one can ever replace a sister.
Groomsman
Edwin's college roommate at Walla Walla University. Vlad and Edwin had one of their first encounters in the Men's residence hallway. At the time, Vlad was trying to figure out what degree he wanted to obtain. We prayed about it and funny enough we ended up graduating with the same degree. Throughout the entire friendship it has always been about helping each other out no matter the circumstances.
Maid of Honor
Sicily is Alexis big sister. Alexis has always looked up to Sicily from a young age. Whether it was cheerleading, school, friendships, etc. Alexis wanted to be like her sister. Alexis remembers Sicily always being good at sports and school. One year Alexis decided she wanted to be a cheerleader just like her big sister and her sister helped her practice for the cheerleading team. Alexis got to hear about all the fun things her sister was doing in Highschool, and finally when Alexis was a 7th grader she got to walk the same halls as her big sister, well for at least one year. After Sicily went to college Alexis was the only one left in the house. Sicily would let Alexis come visit her for a while, while she was still in college which she enjoyed a lot. Now that her sister has twin boys, when Alexis visits she gets to hang out with her sweet nephews also. Alexis chose Sicily to be her Maid of Honor because she is her big sister, and no one can replace a big sister.
Groomsman
Edwin's friend since high school at Newbury Park Academy. Travis used to be the size of Edwin's leg in high school (minor exaggeration). However, he had a growth spurt and now Edwin is the size of Travis's leg. They have been friends for awhile and still enjoy playing basketball together even after all these years of knowing each other. Hopefully our knees still hold up at 65+.
Maid of Honor
Ana is Alexis 2nd Maid of Honor. Ana was in the foreign exchange program and lived with Alexis and her family. She lived away from her parents in Brazil for quite some time, so Alexis and her family became very close. Alexis and Ana call each other sisters because of how close they have become. Ana comes to visit through the years as often as she is able to and Alexis hopes to be able to visit Ana in Brazil soon. They pick up right where they left off every time, laughing, being silly, and just enjoying their time doing anything and everything together. Alexis got to experience freshman year in public school with Ana which made her experience much better. Ana was an answer to prayer for Alexis as she needed a friend like her. Alexis and Ana's friendship is living proof of how distance doesn't matter with friendships. Alexis chose Ana to be her Maid of Honor because of the dedication and commitment of their friendship. Even being so far away their friendship and strong bond remains.
Groomsman
Edwin's high school friend at Newbury Park Academy. There is a distinct memory Edwin has of Ben. It was P.E. period and all the boys decided it was a good idea to play tackle football. From the start, I remember we kept feeding Ben the ball as if he were Marshawn Lynch aka Beast Mode. He would plow through the entire team and it seemed like he had 5 guys hanging on him to bring him down.
Bridesmaid
Bailey was one of Alexis first friends when moving to Washington. They met at the Richland SDA Church and were the girls who were always wanting to go over to each other's houses after church. If their parents said no it was the end of the world. The moral of the story is that they were literal goofs around each other. They enjoyed going to the mall, getting their nails done, going on roadtrips, swimming, and driving around blasting music...and screaming to Shawn Mendes. When they finally were able to attend the same highschool together, Alexis and Bailey got to make even more memories with their mutual friends. Alexis not only gained an amazing friendship with Bailey but also lasting relationships with each others families. Alexis chose Bailey to be her Bridesmaid because of how much Bailey means to her. Even with time apart, they pick back up with their original goofiness almost immediately.
Groomsman
Edwin's cousin. Edwin has known Carlos since he was a baby and used to carry him on his shoulders. Now that Carlos is 6ft+, Edwin may have to find a ladder to get on top of his shoulders. Carlos has become wise beyond his years and is focused. Happy to call him part of the family.
Bridesmaid
Natalie and Alexis met at WWVA through mutual friends and became friends instantly. They bonded over food and Dutch. They were almost always together, being goofs and laughing constantly. They fed off each others goofiness. It was always Alexis driving crazy in her Jetta with the music blasting, driving to get food and drinks on lunch break while Nat was screaming in the back seat half the time at her crazy driving and goofing off, while Tabs was videotaping it all. The 3 girls spent time together daily. Alexis and Natalie would stay at Tabs house almost weekly and they never forgot to pick up Dinamites or Flamin Hot cheetos, & Dutch Bros. A year after their friendship Alexis moved in with Nat and her Auntie, Senior year to finish High School at WWVA, as her parents moved to Texas for work. Alexis had the honor of being a Bridesmaid in Nats wedding not long ago, now Nat gets to be a part of Alexis special day! Alexis chose Natalie to be her Bridesmaid because of how special Natalie is in her life.
Groomsman
Brandon lived next to Edwin but they never had talked until after college via the friendship shared by his wife Tabitha and Alexis. Its amazing how you can live next to someone but yet be so distant not realizing that there are alot of common beliefs. Brandon cares about people alot so much so that he is willing to drop whatever he has going to help out when needed. He and Edwin can talk about Macro Economics all day long and what the next phase of the market cycle will bring; thanks, in part, to Jerome Powell and all central bankers.
Bridesmaid
Hannah is Alexis first friend from college! They met through their mutual friend, Josie, who knew they would become great friends. They enjoyed going out for coffee and food, painting nails, watching movies, art, and all things girly! One of their first few times hanging out was getting shaved ice along with Josie, which they continued to go back for often. Hannah, Josie, and Alexis would often spend time together having girls nights which involved painting nails, hot tubbing, girl talks, and dressing up for dinner. Alexis is forever thankful for Josie introducing her to Hannah. Hannah has been a great friend to Alexis through college, and they were able to make a lot of memories together and lean on eachother for support through the stressful college years. Spending time together made the hard parts of college better! Alexis had the honor of being a Bridesmaid for Hannah's wedding day! Alexis chose Hannah to be her Bridesmaid because Hannah has continuously support her through her journey through college and life.
Groomsman
Alex was friends with Edwin in college. Alex would always have a saying when studying would get increasingly difficult a day or two before the exam. He would say, " I'm going to relax tonight, but tomorrow I'm gonna go ham." Of course, this would happen time after time and the latter part of the saying seemed to be a distant forgotten memory. In retrospect, those were very funny moments and created a humorous environment while studying. Alex sadly is unable to make it to the wedding due to medical school, but we are still including him here!
Bridesmaid
Anelise and Alexis met their freshman year in college through mutual friends. They became friends quickly, bonding over spontaneous plans, food, and everything else in between. Anelise was Alexis go to friend in college, because she knew she would be up for anything fun! Whether it was driving to South Fork singing their hearts out, taking a detour and pulling over on the side of the road to take photos, going black friday shopping, denny's at 3:00 A.M., turning a supposed to be study night into unstoppable laughing sessions, or unforgettable nights talking about life with facemasks and smoothies, Anelise was right there along for the crazy ride. Anelise was always there for her when she needed a boost in her mood, and she knew exactly how to do that. Alexis chose Anelise to be one of her Bridesmaids because of the meaningful friendship they have built over their years in college and her continuous support through literally everything.
Groomsman
Matthew met Edwin playing tennis in Seattle after college. Matthew has a curiosity for life and is always seeking to learn at every waking moment. He once tried to tell Edwin there are only 5 platonic solids but Edwin tried to disagree. This sent Matthew in a frenzy causing him to flail his arms and do a dance only in ways that Matthew can only do. Anyone that has spent time with Matthew would know exactly what this looks like.
Bridesmaid
Alexis and Isabel met through mutual friends (Tabitha and Natalie). Alexis knew when she met Isabel that she would become a special friend. Alexis felt like she could be herself around her almost instantly. The girls enjoy eating good food together, shopping, laughing (we'll keep all those funny stories to ourselves for now, especially the goofiness caught on camera on the weekend of wedding dress shopping). Isabel is probably the most responsible of the group... Keeping all the girls in check and on schedule. She laughs at our goofiness, accepting us for who we are, even though we're a little bit crazy. Isabel is a go-getter and knows exactly what she want and doesn't want. She isn't afraid to be honest and always magically has an answer on how to fix the tiniest of problems. This inspires Alexis! Alexis chose Isabel to be a bridesmaid because of how well they click and Isabel's kind soul.
Bridesmaid
Tabitha and Alexis met at WWVA early on. Tabitha was one of the first people to talk to Alexis on handshake day! They've been besties since. Alexis would spend a lot of her time at Tabs home where they would have long girl talks, paint their nails, go on long drives. Alexis was asked to be a Bridesmaid in her wedding a few years ago. Alexis lived with Tabitha and Brandon in Portland temporarily. Tabs, her husband Brandon, and Alexis would often find themselves diving deep into discussions about the Bible. Tabitha, Brandon, Edwin, and Alexis enjoy talking about very similar dreams of having a home on land and starting a homestead. They all inspire each other to follow their dreams. Alexis and Edwin can't wait for them to move closer hopefully within this next year. Alexis chose Tabitha to be one of her Bridesmaids because of their very close friendship. Alexis feels inspired and motivated by Tabitha as she is always lifting her up and encouraging her to go for whatever she's dreaming of!
Bridesmaid
Makayla and Alexis met when they were around 7 years old through Alexis mom. Makayla's grandma lived across the street from Alexis, which is where Makayla spent a lot of her time. They became best friends right away. Majority of their time was spent at the pool. All they wanted to do was be in water, jump on the trampoline, have sleepovers, eat shaved ice (blue raspberry specifically) and frozen pickle juice. Lol yes... frozen pickle juice as popsicles. Makayla and Alexis wanted to do everything together. Alexis has tried getting Makayla to move to Washington since she left. She hasn't given up yet! Even with distance, Alexis still considered Makayla one of her best friends that will last a lifetime. Alexis chose Makayla to be one of her Bridesmaids because of how far back they go back. Even when they are apart for so long they are able to pick up right back up where they left off.
Bridesmaid
Alexis met Holly on Care.com... LOL. Alexis had started working at Dutch Bros, but had a bad experience there and wanted a calmer environment. So she searched on care.com because of her desire to go back to nannying. She came across Holly's job posting, and when going to meet her she ironically lived four blocks away and found out she was also soon to be cousin-in laws with Alexis friend Kesslyn. Alexis started nannying her daughter Naomi the next day. Ever since then Alexis and Holly have not stopped texting each other (mostly memes and funny videos and updating each other on quite literally everything.) Alexis has grown very close to Holly in a short amount of time and knows Holly would be there for her if she were ever in a time of need, which Alexis would do the same! Alexis chose Holly to be one of her Bridesmaids because of the bond they have built and how comfortable she is talking to her about anything.
Bridesmaid
Josie and Alexis went to WWVA together. Josie was one of Alexis first friends when starting school there. Josie invited her to her summer pool party! Their friendship began to grow stronger and closer when they both were experiencing similar heartbreak. Luckily, God knew to draw them closer as he knew they needed each other. They were able to find things to do together to free their mind and turn that time into a season of growth. They enjoyed sleepovers with deep conversations, painting nails, movie nights, getting food and coffee, photography, going to concerts, and everything else in between! Alexis can't wait to be a Bridesmaid for Josie on her special day this year, just a month before her own! Alexis chose Josie to be one of her Bridesmaid because of the close bond they have together in their friendship and to have Josie's bubbly, compassionate personality there on her wedding day.
Bridesmaid
Kourtney and Alexis (Lexy) met in elementary school. They spent their time together going to the swimming pool, weekend sleepovers, talking about each of their crush, camping in the backyard, trying to get their hair as curly as it could get with gorilla snot gel (if you know, you know). Most of their talks almost always involved laughing about something! Kourtney was the friend always, and still always, calling my mom, "mom". A few years ago Kourtney asked Lexy to be her Maid of Honor, and Lexy knew right away that she would be there for her on her special day. Lexy is grateful for their friendship and memories she has been able to build along all the years with Kourtney. Lexy asked Kourtney to be one of her Bridesmaids because of how far they go back, as well as Kourtney's commitment to sticking along with Lexy and continuing their friendship after Lexy moved to Washington.
Bridesmaid
Krystin is Alexis college roomate. The first time Krystin and Alexis met was when they worked at Camp Mivoden in 2018 & 2019! The first summer working at camp Alexis worked as a counselor and gymnastics instructor but spent a lot of time in the ceramics room where Krystin worked. The second year she decided to be a counselor and ceramics instructor with Krystin. Alexis enjoyed sharing the same interests with Krystin such as being outside in the water, art, exercise, music, and cooking! Alexis loved the experiences and memory! As college roommates Alexis favorite thing to do with Krystin was anything and everything spontaneous. Especially de-stressing by driving up Pikes Peak in Walla Walla and painting, with some good tunes, when really they should probably have been studying haha! Alexis chose Krystin to be one of her Bridesmaids because she cherishes their friendship and memories they have been able to create together.
Bridesmaid
Laylee is Alexis first niece. She's who made her an Aunt! When Alexis found out her sister was pregnant with Laylee she wrote about her in her journal a lot, which she still has safe in a keepsake box at home. She started writing in it in 6th grade? Laylee loves spending time with family, painting her nails, trying out new makeup, singing, and so much more! She is a very talented little girl with such a gentle loving heart but not afraid to stand up for her family. She always cares to take the time to brighten someone's day and knows exactly what to say to make them feel better. Alexis favorite thing to do with Laylee is Snuggle on the couch (Alexis hopes she will never get too old for this) and watch movies or paint their nails together. Alexis chose Laylee to be her Junior Bridesmaid because of how special Laylee is in her life and becuase of her sweet and gentle soul.
Flower Girl
Rhemi is Alexis youngest niece! She enjoys all things girly. Painting her nails, dress up, playing house and bossing her older sisters around. She is a silly girl and makes us all laugh! Alexis loves spending time with Rhemi and wish she could be around her more often. She is very smart and likes to have fun. Alexis has enjoyed watching her grow. Rhemi is all things sweet, a little sassy, and very imaginative. She's going to be creative just like her mamma! When Alexis asked her if she wanted to be a flower girl she said she wanted to wear a long white dress with heels, a tiara, and white gloves. She knows what she wants haha. Alexis chose Rhemi to be her flower girl because of how special and sweet she is.
Flower Girl
(Arri on the Left) - (Elli on the right) Elli and Arri are Alexis twin nieces. Both of them love being goofy and have the kindest little souls. They still love matching each other, and often choose the same things, even though they make eachother mad sometimes. They have the biggest hearts and will make you laugh even when you're feeling sad. Seeing them grow up together has been so fun to watch. Elli is sweet and likes to make people laugh and be goofy! Arri is the sassy one that isn't afraid to say it how it is, yet she is sweet and caring. Alexis and Edwin hope they live nearby soon! Alexis and Edwin chose them to be the flower girls because of how much they mean to them!
Ring Bearer
John Carlos and John Beckham are Alexis first nephews. Alexis was so excited when she found out that her other sister was having twins also! They are both sweet and charming little guys. Alexis wish she could spend all day everyday with them. They will be so big by the time of the wedding and Alexis is super excited to see them in their little tuxedos. Alexis and Edwin love seeing videos of them learn new things and grow, even though it makes them sad they don't live close to spend more time with them. Alexis and Edwin chose them to be their ring bearer and Bible boy because they love them so very much!
Flower Girl
Willow is Tabitha and Brandons daughter (One of the Bridesmaid and Groomsmen). Willow is a happy tiny little one and an answer to prayer from us all! Alexis chose Naomi to be her Flower Girl because Naomi is one of the sweetest, cutest little girls she has met, and time Alexis has been able to create a bond with her.
Mother of the Bride
Kimberly is Alexis mother. She is very talented, and I mean very. She pretty much knows how to do everything as well as the answer to everything. She's an artist, a florist, and knows pretty much how to do everything at home. Cooking, baking, tearing down walls, fixing the roof, etc. Alexis has watched her mom do so many different DIY's and put in a lot of hard work. She has always allowed for a creative space at home even when Alexis decided to cut up her fabric and make a quilt for her... (well, her version of a quilt). Kimberly is very talented and caring. She is always wanting to help others out and Alexis and Edwin look up to her for that. She has provided and sacrificed a lot for her family over the years. Alexis mom is actually the one doing the flowers and help planning for the wedding which will be very special!
Father of the Bride
Danny is Alexis Father. He has worked in the railcar industry for quite some time and has been a hard worker all his life, since a young age. He is very intelligent and has sacrificed and provided a lot for his girls. Alexis will always appreciate him for everything he has done for his family. There is also another side to him that is very goofy. He loves to sing funny songs, he always has. Especially Johnny Cash (A boy name Sue) since we were kids. He has taught us a lot. Even when we were little he taught us how to garden, how to fix our bikes, how to change the oil, and pretty much anything he was working on in the garage...(even if we didn't ever do it on our own. He will be cooking for everyone on the wedding day which will be very special! Alexis and Edwin can't wait to spend time with Alexis parents during the wedding weekend.
Father of the Groom
My father always placed importance when it came to receiving an education that he never was able to have. He worked very hard to give my brother and I an education. He showed us how to work hard and tirelessly so that we would develop a good work ethic. The summers I spent working with him molded me into the man I am today and I thank him for that. Looking back on those times where I wish I wasn't out in the hot summer sun working long days always remind me of the lessons my father taught me.
Mother of the Groom
Edwin's mother is a legal and medical interpreter and has her licensure as a phlebotomist, medical assistant, etc. She has also had several years of experience as a care taker, for elderly patients. Her best and most prolific work experience comes as being the mother of Edwin Tobar. She made sure to read to Edwin before bedtime and enrolled him in extracurricular activities that would advance his educational experience at an early age. She placed importance on having her children going to school and having the best opportunities to succeed. Her smile can brighten up a room. "A childhood memory, or should I say the annual reminder I received growing up, was when she would show up to my middle school and throw me a birthday party even though I had clearly stated not to because it would be embarrassing. Now I look back on those memories and cherish those moments because they surprisingly always turned out fun." She always gives with a full heart and never expects anything in return.
Flower Girl
Jersi is another flower girl Alexis Nanny's. Jersi is full of fun, and is very creative. Alexis' favorite thing about Jersi is that she loves all things girly. Nails, outfits, pink, everything! Almost every morning Alexis nanny's Jersi, Jersi is up first thing in the morning wanting to draw, and she is so good at it! She is a talented and fun little girl to be around every morning.
