We met around 10 years ago through mutual friends at a party. After that, our paths crossed numerous times while hanging out with friends or out and about at parties. There was always a spark between us that neither one of us could explain. One fateful night, we had our first kiss, but Dave got shy and didn't call Alexis back. After a few years, and a brief period of hanging out, we reconnected and the rest is history.
Alexis has been going to Harbor Springs in Northern Michigan for almost her entire life. It's her favorite place in the world, which Dave knows well. On the annual Fourth of July vacation, Alexis decided they would do a day-trip on Dave's motorcycle to Pond Hill Farms, just outside of town. After grabbing a beer and enjoying some peace and quiet in the shade, we made our way up the vineyard hill to the overlook. There's a beautiful birch arch that frames the glimpse of the water in the distance. A couple and their son were up on the hill. Dave stopped them to ask if they could take a picture of us. After a couple snaps, he asked if she wouldn't mind taking just one more. Alexis posed, and that's when Dave got down on one knee. Luckily, the lovely bystander was totally excited and snapped 150 pictures of the moment. After the proposal, we made our way through the Tunnel of Trees to Legs Inn for a celebration Bloody Mary, as we looked out at the water.
With the fear of the unknowns looming throughout 2020, the desire to wait to officially solidify our love (and our health insurances) disappeared. So, in a small private ceremony in the Maid of Honor's backyard, we said, "I do!" on Halloween night with a margarita to seal the deal. We greatly missed our friends and families though, so that's why we're eager to honor our original date with an "I do, part two!"
