On May 8th, a nasty storm swept through our town. Trees were uprooted, power lines were down, and debris was scattered everywhere. Two days later, on May 10th, a LDC cleanup crew gathered at a friend's house to start the cleanup process. Amidst the chaos and hard work, I noticed someone who stood out. Presley was somewhat familiar because I had seen pictures of him a couple times. But what stood out was his willing spirit to show up to someone’s house, He’s never met and help clean up their property. We exchanged a few words here and there, but it wasn't until the end of the day that we really started talking. We talked for a couple hours just getting to know each other. From that moment on, we were inseparable. The storm had brought us together in the most unexpected way, and what started as a simple act of kindness turned into the beginning of our beautiful journey together.
After overcoming various challenges throughout my childhood, we finally celebrated my graduation later in life. It was a momentous occasion, filled with joy and pride. I had a feeling that presley might propose soon, but I wasn’t sure when or how it would happen. During the graduation party, amidst the celebrations and congratulations, Presley asked me to come over to him and I was stubborn to say the least and told him I always come to you why don’t you come to me. Eventually I walked over to Presley, he wanted to give me a gift so he reached for his pocket and I grabbed his hand asking, "Really, right now?" With a playful smile, he responded, "No, silly, they're earrings." I turned around to show my mom the earrings. In that brief moment, he seized the opportunity. When i turned back, he was down on one knee with the ring ready. The surprise and happiness was overwhelming and of course, I said yes.
