Henry's roommate Cheryl was a good friend of Alexi's officemate Ben. These two friends were en route to Topgolf on a Sunday morning back in May 2017 when they decided to invite along Henry and Alexi. Henry, an avid golfer, could not turn down an opportunity to practice his swing. Alexi, a lover of brunch, was always down for a spontaneous mimosa. When the gang arrived at Topgolf, Alexi and Henry met for the very first time. Love at first sight? Well, after a few conversations, they discovered they both were at the same restaurant the previous night. They shared a good laugh and went on with their day. Yet over the next few weeks, Alexi found any excuse to see Henry (knowing that he would be hanging with her officemate Ben). One evening in June, Henry set up a wine tasting in his apartment. He invited Alexi and four other couples - conspiciously singling out the two of them. His plan worked!

Since Alexi and Henry met at Topgolf, it was only appropriate that Henry propose on a golf course. During quarantine, Henry had started teaching Alexi how to golf as it was his favorite pastime and he wanted to share it with her! They agreed to play every Sunday so Alexi could keep improving. On September 6, 2020, they were golfing when it began to rain on Hole 6. In only seconds, the rain turned into a powerful thunderstorm. They likely should have evacuated from the fairways for safety, but Henry said "let's just skip to hole 9 and then leave." Alexi was quite confused but was playing so well that she agreed to play on. When Alexi got up to the 9th green to putt, there was something sparkling in the hole. Henry got down on one knee and said "will you marry me?"
