We met the way all modern fairy tales begin—online. Our first date was a comedy show, which felt fitting since laughter has been a constant ever since. Somewhere between the jokes and our hands finding each other for the first time, we knew this was something special. By the end of our first week together, we’d already exchanged “I love you’s,” and honestly, he hasn’t stopped telling me he falls in love with me a little more every day.
He planned it all so carefully, even down to the outfit. With the energy of the city around us, we strolled down toward Pier 76. He was nervous (adorably so), and as we walked by the water, he told me how happy I make him. Then, out of nowhere, he turned to me, told me I was his everything, and asked me to marry him. It was so honest and heartfelt, I didn’t even have time to make a sarcastic comment. I just said yes.
Our bond? Chaos, mostly. We have two mixed-breed mutts, Coco and Hero, who are just as dramatic as we are. We spend our time walking them, watching true crime documentaries, rewatching Phantom of the Opera for the hundredth time, and arguing over which movies are overrated. Somehow, we make it work—probably because he lets me pick the playlist in the car when we drive together. Life with him (and the dogs) is weird, a little messy, and absolutely perfect.
