In February of 2018, Alex and Alex met the old-fashioned way, through the friend of a friend of a friend in a dingy bar in Brooklyn, NY. Alex (f) was looking forward to her first year in New York City. She didn’t want a relationship slowing her down but that would change when a close friend convinced her to accompany her to a bar in Bushwick so they could meet up with a guy her friend was seeing. Meanwhile, Alex (m) was just out for a good a time with friends, one of whom had invited a woman he was seeing. A few hours of easy conversation and Alex (m) was so pleased with how he had gained the attention of a beautiful stranger that he attempted to jump down the stairs on the way the bathroom and managed to bang his head on the sloping ceiling. A few wobbly steps later and he managed to shake it off just in time to say yes when Alex (f) asked if Alex (m) would like to head to one last bar. Little did he know that Alex (f) had more than just one more drink in mind… she wanted to go dancing. Alex (m) managed to not completely embarrass himself and a parting kiss and an exchange of phone numbers ended the night, kicking off a whirlwind romance. They met three times in their first week, each trying to outdo the other by finding the most unique dates in the city. These included an immersive movie production, a pop-up concert, and a tour of hole-in-the-wall bars. One month later, Alex (f) met Alex’s (m) son Logan and soon the three of them were attending NYCFC matches close to every weekend. Two months later, Alex (m) was joining Alex (f) on her family vacation to South Carolina to meet her parents, siblings, and grandparents. The next few years included a road trip from Oklahoma to Iowa to meet the rest of Alex’s (f) family, a trip to the United Kingdom to meet Alex’s (m) family and a vacation in Ghana. After living together in Brooklyn, they moved out of the city to Yonkers, NY in October 2019 and grew their family when they adopted their dog, Izzy in May 2020.
