Our Story

November 3rd, 2017- Present

Although it was not their first time meeting, the story that began it all for them started when Alex and Robbie Stratton crashed a girls night out at Ugly Tuna Saloona in Fall of 2017. Zoe remembers being slightly peeved by their presence, but decided not to let it ruin her night! She was on the balcony talking to her friends and remembers looking back into the bar and meeting Alex's gaze. He immediately broke out in a huge smile and starting dancing like a fool along to the thumping pop music. Zoe couldn't help but smile back and break into a fit of laughter. The night proceeded with tons of dancing, even more laughter and late night buckeye donuts. While the original Ugly Tuna Saloona is longer present at Ohio State, Zoe and Alex love returning to campus and reminiscing of all of their memories together. Zoe and Alex describe the next 1.5 years as a whirlwind. They continued to grow together, accomplish their goals, and create unforgettable memories. One of Alex's favorite memories during this time was traveling up to Cleveland and watching the Cavs play... their seats were insanely close, a true dream for Alex. The fascination was not felt nearly as much by Zoe (resident sports hater). Zoe's favorite memory was going apple picking together for the first time. Alex thought it was hilarious to take a singular bite out of every apple then see how far he could chuck them. While Zoe pretended to be mad at Alex for wasting apples, she couldn't help but laugh alongside with him.... and then laugh at him when he thought security was going to bust him! Before they knew it, it was time to graduate. Zoe decided to attend medical school up in Cleveland while Alex began his first job in Tampa, FL (Oh the irony! For those of you who may not know, Zoe was born and raised in Tampa, FL...the very same place Alex moved to after college!). The journey began their nearly four year long distance relationship. They have logged way too many flights to count, and while it was incredibly hard to say goodbye each time, they truly learned just how precious time is. Each farewell ended with Zoe and Alex dancing to the same song they are dancing to for their first dance at their wedding and tons of tears, but they were each so proud of each other for chasing their dreams. Alex ended up moving from Tampa to Dallas and finally to St. Louis for work and has accomplished amazing career goals in such a short amount of time. Zoe is just so immensely proud of him for surpassing the goals they would dream about in their tiny college rooms. Zoe will have just graduated from medical school by the wedding. Alex frequently gets misty eyed just thinking about how far Zoe has come in the last four years of medical school. They started telling each other when the times were tough that they were "Better Together" and that sentiment has stuck with them to this day. Then on May 15, 2021, Alex finally got down on one knee and proposed to Zoe at the reunion tower in Dallas, TX. It truly was a dream proposal for Zoe because she could tell just how much thought Alex put into everything. That night was full of tears and conversations on how far they have come from that fateful night out at a college bar. Nearly two years later, they are finally tying the knot in front of all of the people they love the most! -- We truly cannot wait to celebrate with you all and have you bear witness to the beginning of our lifetime together! Thank you for playing a special part in our lives. Some of you have been around since before we could speak and others have become fast friends over the last few years. Nevertheless, you all mean the world to us both. Love, Alex and Zoe
