Alex and her dad have always had a deep, loyal bond. They are each other’s “sunshine.” He’s been her encourager, her safe place, and the one who reminds her of who she is, especially when she forgets. His love listens and reminds Alex that she’s never alone, in this life or in any, they’ll always be together. When Rich was diagnosed with leukemia over fifteen years ago, he made a decision: he would fight to be here to walk his daughter down the aisle. On this most magical of days, that promise will come true. So much of Alex’s strength and self-worth come from the way Rich loves her. Steady, full of pride and humility, and with his whole heart. Always and Phorever! Even before there was a proposal, Grandma Miné called Zakk her grandson. She saw the love and magic in him from the start. She knew before anyone else that Zakk was the one for Alex.

Over the years, Lysa and Alex have found their own rhythm, built on respect, love, and growth. Lysa is loving, thoughtful, generous, fun, and warm. She’s always coming up with thoughtful ways to show Alex her love, from personalized goodie baskets to quiet support during hard times. From Eddie Money concerts with Alex, Jeanette, and Rich, to apartment hunting in Chico, visits to NorCal, SoCal, and soon Texas, Lysa has played a huge role in Alex’s journey and growth. Lysa’s open, kind heart, paired with her genuine effort to connect set the tone from the beginning and over the years has developed into a meaningful and lasting friendship. Alex is grateful for the way Lysa loves and supports her dad. He worked so hard, and so many in the family before him sacrificed to help Los Canos get to where we are today. In Lysa, Rich found a true teammate. Alex feels so blessed to have a strong, loving, motivated bonus mama like Lysa. She’s deeply grateful for the connection they’ve built and that Lysa is by their side on this most magical day.
Bonus Father of the Bride
Greg has been in Alex’s life since she was nine years old. He taught her how to snowboard and snowmobile, how to speak her mind, and how to move through the world with autonomy and confidence. From volleyball clubs to field trips, cars to quinceañera dresses, and now wedding dresses, Greg has shown up and supported Alex through every chapter of her life. Through all the growing pains and milestones, Greg helped shape the strong, outspoken woman Alex is today, and she’s beyond grateful for the life and family he and Guin built for her and Maxx. Greg approved of Zakk from day one, when Zakk respectfully shook his hand, looked him in the eye, and introduced himself as her boyfriend. With a bonus father comes a bonus family. Alex wouldn’t be who she is today without her Matheys, Hansens, or Weavers. Alex and Zakk love them all very much.

From the moment Alex entered the family, Chas welcomed her with open arms and an open heart. A woman of strength and warmth, Chas has a rare gift. She sees people for who they truly are. She reflects others back to themselves with clarity and care, often before they even realize what they need, a trait she passed down to her Zakkary. She is a woman of faith, a teacher, and a steady, grounding force within her beautiful family. Her love runs deep, not just in what she gives, but in how fully she knows and embraces the people around her. It means everything to Zakk that the two people he loves most connect as deeply as they do. To be seen and known by Chas is a gift. Zakk and Alex are so blessed and eternally grateful to have her by their side.

Gregg is a man of strength, deep faith, and commitment. He prays daily, not only for those he loves, but for anyone in need. He shows his care through action, investing his time and presence into what matters most: family. He leads by example, not just through words but through how he lives. Always learning and always willing to make space for others, Gregg shows up with consistency, kindness, and integrity. He roots for his children, their partners, and the lives they are building. Zakk and Alex are so blessed and grateful for his encouragement, wisdom, and the steady love he gives so freely.

Maxxim made Alex a big sister for the first time. She was the third person to ever hold his little body in her arms. Alex describes their nine-year age difference as a gift; she was old enough to truly appreciate what it meant to become a big sister and it helped her cherish precious moments from the very beginning. Even as a kid, Maxx carried a bold kind of strength. He’s cool, calm, and collected, most of the time 😎 He’s always been mature beyond his years and is able to handle life with a confidence that continues to amaze her. Alex never misses a chance for a heart-to-heart or to bestow her (unsolicited) wisdom upon him. Maxx has watched Alex and Zakk’s relationship blossom and bloom for the past ten years, often sitting back with Zakk quietly while Alex launches into one of her righteous rants. Zakk is stoked to officially call Maxx his brother. Alex believes in Maxx’s greatness and knows that he will work hard at whatever he puts his mind to, but more than anything, she hopes he dreams big, believes in himself, and goes for it!!! She has always told him that he’s her favorite person in the universe and that will never change. The world is a better place because Maxx is in it. Shoutout Livi! Lola gave Alex a sister in this life. The age gap between them means Alex will always be able to show up for her, no matter what life brings.
