Our Story

First Comes School, Then Comes Corporate Life, Then Comes Captain in a Baby Carriage

We were introduced through mutual friends (shout out to Melanie and Ryan Poole) in 2013 while attending Clemson University. Warren was a Senior and I, a Junior. I know this is a cliché, but it really seemed like we could talk forever. Flash forward to May of 2013. Warren was getting ready to graduate, and I was trying to figure out a future career path while preparing for an epic senior year. Warren snagged a wonderful opportunity to work for a commercial real estate company in Dallas, TX that we agreed he couldn't pass up. Of course we were both disappointed that we'd have to embark on a long-distance relationship, but we were sure enough of our connection to know that we could make it work. Warren would move to Dallas for a year, maybe a year and a half tops, and then his office would transfer him to wherever I was so that we could be together, right? What we originally assumed would be a 1.5-year long distance relationship ended up lasting 4.5 years. I spent my Senior year diligently applying for jobs in Dallas and actually ended up receiving a job offer for one. However, I also received an offer for a great opportunity in Nashville, TN and after discussing the options with Warren, we agreed I should take the job in Nashville because it would be the best move for my career. So we spent the next 2.5 years in separate cities, I in Nashville and Warren in Dallas. While Nashville was closer to Dallas than Clemson, it was still a 10-hour drive. Eventually, Warren snagged a job in Charlotte and I joined him a year and a half later. 8 years after we met, we're FINALLY in the same city and thrilled to call the Queen City our home. We've settled into a cute little home in the quaint neighborhood of Oakhurst. In December 2019, we were blessed with our first child - Captain "Toot" Johnson. Cap is the light of our lives and we're so grateful that we ended up with the last pick of the litter. He's a silly, quirky weirdo just like us. Our Story continues on the Photos page...
