FAQs: Before You Board

Question

Wait...are y'all getting married on a boat?

Answer

Yes! 🚢 We can't wait for you to celebrate with us at our amazing wedding venue, the beautiful and historic MV Skansonia! But don’t worry—the boat will be docked safely at Lake Union for the entire celebration. No sailing, no seasickness. Just good vibes, food, drinks, and dancing. We will also be providing motion sickness medications in restrooms for our guests, just in case. You can find the address to the MV Skansonia on the "Voyage Schedule" page.

Question

When should I arrive in Seattle?

Answer

If you’re traveling from out of town, we recommend arriving at least one day or two before the wedding so you have plenty of time to settle in and enjoy Seattle!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend staying in Downtown Seattle or South Lake Union area. These neighborhoods are convenient for exploring the city and getting to the wedding. We’ll share hotel recommendations on our "Travel & Lodging" page. More details to follow.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Not necessarily! Seattle has plenty of hotels, restaurants, and attractions within easy reach of downtown. Alex and I typically walk or ride the bus everywhere. If you stay in downtown area, we have light rail stations easily accessible. Rideshares are also quick and widely available! If you plan to explore places outside the city, such as our mountains, the coast or wineries, a rental car may be more convenient.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Seattle weather can be unpredictable, so come prepared! At the end of May, Seattle experiences average daytime highs reaching the upper 60s Fahrenheit (around 69°F) and nighttime lows around 52°F. We might get lucky and get a day of mid-high 70°F We recommend bringing layers and a light jacket, and yes—there is always a chance of rain in Seattle☔️

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

As parking is limited, especially if you plan to drink, we strongly recommend using a rideshare or arranging transportation rather than driving. Rideshare costs should be pretty affordable, especially if you are staying in the city.

Question

What time should I arrive for the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive 30–45 minutes before 6:00pm so you have plenty of time to park, board the boat, find your seat, and get settled.

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

Cocktail attire/semi-formal is going to be our dresscode! As our venue is a boat, think nautical and/or pastel, bright colors. Please remember to bring your snazziest pair of sunglasses 🕶️ and a light jacket🧥, as this will be an indoor/outdoor wedding.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Please refer to your invitation! As we have a limited headcount, your RSVP will indicate the number of guests included in your invitation. Thank you for understanding!

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or allergies when you RSVP. We’ll do our best to accommodate you!

Question

What if I have questions that aren't answered here?

Answer

If you have any other questions, please email us at korbelscookie@gmail.com We will get back to you as soon as we can!
