In early 2019, Alex and Victoria independently took a big leap of faith and moved across the world to Shanghai. Victoria had just finished up her final semester at Baylor and was looking for a bit of adventure and a chance to live abroad before venturing into the “real world”. Alex was wrapping up a stint traveling across the country volunteering through Americorps, and his adventurous spirit hadn’t yet been fully satisfied. The two arrived in Shanghai with a cohort of three other teachers and the group became fast friends. They spent their first few weeks exploring all the Shanghai had to offer - visiting museums and parks, stumbling around the expat watering holes, spending way too much time in mega malls, and eating lots and lots of dumplings. On a night out supporting their friend Tori’s DJ set at a local bar, the two shared a spontaneous kiss and the rest is history. Five years later and Alex and Victoria have shared lots of adventures - surviving a couple years of long distance, traveling across Southeast Asia and South America, spending lots of time with each others families in Florida and Wisconsin, and building a life together in Washington D.C.
