We advise against including ice in your beverages. We also recommend bringing charcoal capsules and use bottled water to brush your teeth to avoid any possible stomach issues.
Uber is readily available. Most fares range from $2-$3 for about a 10 minute ride. We recommend using this for ease and convenience. There are other apps available as well: Easy Taxi and Tappsi, but Uber is just fine!
If you're looking for a sleek and modern stay, then we recommend staying in Bocagrande, which is in the New City (where we'll be staying this time). If you're looking for a more charming colonial stay, then we suggest staying within the Walled City. There are also plenty of good AirBnB options. We've stayed in the Cielo Mar/Boquilla area in the past. From there, the Old City was about a 6-minute ride and the New City was about another 10 minutes away.
We'll be visiting the following two islands on Saturday: Cholon - https://youtu.be/9zPLifAZkDQ https://youtu.be/XdH_dcTNVhg Isla Baru - https://youtu.be/PHww0XRai9c
We always got the best exchange rate when withdrawing from local ATM's than local exchange offices. Make sure you check with your bank for any foreign exchange fees! Current exchange rates are $1 USD = $2,777 COP. As a comparison, an average entrée at Carmen, a high-end restaurant, is about $55,000 COP equivalent to about $19 USD.
Please RSVP by Sunday, April 15, 2018.
You can, but you will often get a better deal if you purchase in person as you will be able to haggle :D
We recommend extending your stay to visit other parts of the country, if possible. Colombia is geographically diverse, so there's something for everyone out there! Other places we've visited include Medellin, Santa Marta, and a brief stay in Bogota. Santa Marta has a lot of outdoor activities including a national park called Parque Tayrona (overnight stay optional but recommended) and mountain treks through the Lost City and indigenous villages (some maintain their own culture and language, but are friendly to visitors!). Medellin has great nightlife (also museums and tours of communes). Bogota offers a wide array of history, gastronomy, and more!
