A nice walk in the woods and along the coast - great for birding! Stop for lunch at Off The Hook on your way back.
Horseneck Beach
If you want to go to the beach on your visit, this is the best / nearest to New Bedford with public parking. It's also right near Allens Pond!
Boulder Union Climbing and Fitness
Awesome indoor climbing facility in downtown New Bedford, inside a former bank building. Day passes are $29! They also have regular gym equipment if you want to get a workout in.
Captain's Mansions in the County Street Historic District
Historical architecture appreciators - be sure to roam the streets just west of downtown New Bedford to see some incredible gems. A few particularly pretty streets among many: County Street between Union and Madison, Madison Street between County and Orchard, Maple Street between Orchard and Cottage, Irving Street between Maple and Hawthorne, Union Street between Orchard and Lincoln, Cottage Street between Union and Arnold, Arnold Place between Orchard and Arnold Street. New Bedford prices are enviable compared to the Boston area - check out the palace for sale at 388 County Street for $695,000!
