You can take the metro to Union Station and take a nice walk around and end up at Grand Central Market (GCM). Once a local market, GCM now has plenty of options for every kind of food mood.
The Broad has some fantastic and cool art to check out. Tickets are free but you have to register for tickets the month before you're expecting to go.
Not just any bookstore! This place is a bibliophile's dream of shelves and shelves and even a tunnel of books. The top floor has a few local artist shops to check out. Eat at Grand Central Market just around the corner.
A nice brewery with outdoor space, delicious beer and yummy food.
Alex's favorite place in all of LA County. Don't be surprised to find wild peacocks roaming the grounds. It's very close to Pasadena.
One of Tal's favorite museums. It has a wonderful garden (and wine/beer) and some really unique collections.
When it's hot outside (and it'll be plenty hot in August) you should definitely cool down with some Pho. It sounds counter-intuitive but you won't regret it.
You gotta see the Hollywood Sign. Best kept secret though is that the best view is actually at a dog park. You can do the Griffith Park Hike and see it a little bit but the dog park is so much better.
LA has a great Thai town with places like Spicy BBQ. It has great vegetarian options (get the spicy jackfruit!). Just note, it's cash only. They have an ATM there if you forget though. While you're in the area, check out The Know Where Bar.
Art Deco is our jam and this place has some fantastic Deco vibes and cocktails designed by our very own Adrián. It's also close to some of our favorite Thai food.
Come for the day time view, and stay for the twinkling lights of the city. Stars may not be super visible but there's a great daytime star show inside.
Summer in LA is all about bringing a picnic to the Bowl for a fun night of music with the LA Phil. There's even a park and ride from Pasadena!
Brioche toast with jam and ricotta. That's all we're gonna say.
Hand-made tortillas, delicious stewed meats, and an horchata. Need we say more?
Fun in the sun! Take a walk around the lake or rent a paddle boat on the lake.
