Question

What time should I arrive to the Holud Shondha?

Answer

Please plan to arrive at 4:00 PM. You’re welcome to stay and celebrate with us for as long as you like throughout the evening.

Question

What is a Holud Shondha?

Answer

A Holud Shondha is a traditional Bengali pre-wedding celebration centered around joy, blessings, and togetherness. During the event, family and friends apply turmeric to the bride and groom as a symbol of good luck, purification, and happiness ahead of marriage. Holud means “turmeric,” and Shondha means “evening.” Historically, turmeric has been believed to promote health and bring a natural glow, making it an auspicious part of wedding rituals. For our celebration, expect plenty of delicious food, fun games, music, and lots of dancing!

Question

What is the dress code for the Wedding?

Answer

For the wedding ceremony & reception, Bengali traditional attire (sari, lehenga, or salwar kameez for ladies; sherwani or panjabi for gentlemen) or Western formal attire (black-tie optional) is encouraged. We would love to see bright pastel colors and floral patterns, especially in dresses and traditional outfits. Gentlemen are welcome to incorporate pastels or florals through ties, pocket squares, shirts, or other accessories. If you’re interested in wearing traditional attire and would like guidance or assistance, please feel free to reach out to the bride or groom—we’re happy to help!

Question

What is the dress code for the Holud Shondha?

Answer

For the Holud Shondha, guests are encouraged to wear Bengali traditional attire or Western semi-formal attire. This celebration traditionally features bright, bold colors. Our color theme will be yellow and blue. Festive, colorful accessories are welcome. If you’re interested in wearing traditional attire and would like guidance or assistance, please feel free to reach out to the bride or groom—we’re happy to help!
