Our Love Story: An interview with Sydney & Alex

Question 1: How did you two meet? From Sydney's Perspective: We met in Chemistry class at Georgia Southern. I think we sat next to each other the first day, but Alex says we didn't. When we had to choose lab partners the second day, I was interested to see how we would get along. We talked a lot in our lab sessions, and I was attracted to Alex's excitement as he told me about himself. I became excited for every lab session, and soon enough I was telling my friends about this goofy guy I had a gigantic crush on. From Alex's Perspective: It was Chemistry class, sophomore year of College with our professor we secretly called Gary. You know how it is that first day of class; it's stressful trying to figure out where you are going to sit the rest of the semester. I saw Sydney sitting near the front of the room. Scoping out the class, I thought she was cute so I went to sit next to her. I am pretty sure we didn't even speak that day, but I had a feeling I would get to know her throughout the semester. Soon, we became lab partners. In that first lab, I think we were the first group done with our work. But as the semester went on, the flirting increased, and the next thing we knew, we were the slowest lab duo. Sydney finally asked me out (she thought we had Chemistry). One thing lead to another, and here we are today. Question 2: Can you share a moment when you realized you were in love? From Sydney's Perspective: A few months after we started dating, Alex and I moved to different cities. The way I felt for him, looking forward to him and leaning on him even though we were not physically together made me realize I was in love. I actually wanted to tell him the same weekend that he told me. From Alex's Perspective: The first time I told Sydney I loved her, I was too scared to see what her reaction would be. So one day, she was dropping me off and I said, "I love you" and jumped out of the car as quick as I could to try and avoid her reaction. Question 3: What do you admire most about each other? From Sydney's Perspective: Alex is the most dedicated, honest, and genuine person. He will not pretend for anyone. I am in constant awe of his ability to work hard, set and accomplish goals, and always always be himself. Even when he knows he is going against the grain or not fitting in, he will be exactly who he is. From Alex's Perspective: I admire Sydney's hard work and dedication. From one of those early days in Chem, she told me she wanted to be a medical doctor. It's crazy to be here 7 years later, seeing her live out her goals and dreams. I also admire Sydney's empathy towards others. She always tries to see things from the perspective of others and treats people equitably and fairly. Question 4: What's one thing your partner does that never fails to make you smile? From Sydney's Perspective: I absolutely love when Alex dances. He is amazing at it. I also smile every time I see how much he loves Roni. From Alex's Perspective: Syd likes to leave me little notes in my pockets for me to find later. They usually just say "I love you" or have a little heart on them. It's always a fun surprise to find them.
