No need to rent a car!
There are multiple ways to get to Providence by plane or train:
- Boston Logan Airport, BOS (then ~ 1 h train ride to Providence)
- Rhode Island International Airport, PVD (a 10 minute drive to Providence or 20 minute bus)
- Amtrak, which connects the Northeast corridor
Getting from Boston Logan Airport to Providence:
From BOS Airport:
- Take the silver line shuttle (SL1) from the airport to South Station
- When you arrive at South Station you can either take the Commuter Rail (1 hour 10 mins) or Amtrak (~35 minutes) directly to downtown Providence
From Boston:
At South Station, get the Commuter Rail (other stops in Massachusetts also available) or Amtrak (35 minutes direct from Boston) to downtown Providence.
Note: The last train leaving Boston is at 11:55 pm, and 11:25 pm leaving Providence
Driving from Boston to Providence is 50 minutes.
Uber/Lyft is widely available.
