Vincent likes to tell everyone we met through our mutual job at the time, which was Wegmans, but much to his embarrassment, that's just not true! Covid was still raging and the world had slowly started to open up again, so no one was getting out much. Thankfully there is a lovely little app called Tinder. Tinder is known for being an app that allows quick and fun hook ups, we're all adults here no need for pearl clutching. It also happens to be a great way to meet people and date. Enter Vincent! We matched on the app and started talking shortly thereafter. Now I couldn't tell you what our conversations entailed at the time but I can tell you that when I talked to him I smiled a lot. I knew I needed to meet him but I was shy and didn't have the courage to ask him out so I did what any sensible girl would do. I pretended a friend cancelled dinner plans on me and got him to take me out instead. I took an Uber to TC Hooligans and waited outside for him to arrive. I made sure to somewhat hide myself in case I needed to bail on the chance I was being catfished but thankfully that was not the case. He arrived in a red flannel (which I would quickly come to learn the man loves his flannel shirts) and flashed me a big smile while he said a warm "Hello". We were seated and quickly dove into the menu full of drinks and food, we both were nervous and surprisingly neither one of us ordered any alcohol to help us loosen up. But we didn't need it, talking to him felt like talking to someone I'd known for a long time. He was quiet but funny. We ordered an appetizer of loaded fries while we chatted about ourselves trying to find common interests and things we secretly liked about one another. That's when our jobs came into play. Now, as I mentioned Vincent likes to tell people we met through our jobs. We both came to find out that we worked at the same Wegmans location just in different departments, him in the Deli and myself in Floral. Neither department was far from the other but at the time everyone was still in masks and he just started working at Wegmans during the pandemic so I had no memory of him. However, he immediately knew who I was, "You're the girl who sang in the store for Valentines Day". I'm pretty sure I melted right onto the floor. He remembered me without even knowing who I was. Our sweet moment however was quickly interrupted by our waitress setting down a pizza sheet pan full of loaded fries. We both sat there in shock and couldn't help but laugh. We were expecting a dinner plate maybe even a skillet but not an entire pizza sheet full of loaded fries. It's become a memory we are both quite fond of and often joke about. Needless to say our appetizer became our dinner. We talked and talked until we realized how late it had gotten and that we should probably start to leave. Vincent offered me a ride home and normally I am always cautious but I felt safe with him after having just had the most wonderful dinner and conversation in a long time. So, I accepted. He drove me home and we continued to talk until we pulled into my driveway. I just remember us smiling at one another until I finally broke the silence telling him how nice of a time I had and I was hoping he'd like to do it again some time soon. And well, here we are...3 years later and I'm about to marry that man in flannel who I suckered into taking me out to dinner on a perfectly normal day that turned into forever with each other.
