They met like so many modern day couples do, Bumble. Ali probably had a boring line (she is an accountant) but Steve thought she was beautiful and he wanted to figure out if he was being catfished. They met for the first time at a local brewery, Endeavor. After the first date, Steve was eager to plan a second date for that Sunday. They barely made it through the second date after Steve said they didn't need butter on the popcorn (HUGE RED FLAG). However, they ended up getting ice cream and the popcorn error was corrected. It wasn't long before they were hanging out every other night in order to complete their Ale Trail. A few months in, they took their first trip together to Asheville, North Carolina and realized that they loved traveling, especially together. Once they got back from Asheville, Steve's A/C "broke" and him and Yarmo basically moved into Ali's one bedroom apartment with her and the two cats (Hans and Gretel). Everyone could tell they were falling in love... FINALLY, they confessed their love for one another and things got serious fast. After a few more trips (9 countries in one year), moving in together AND surviving DIY home renovations, they are planning a wedding.

One Friday night, Steve planned an intimate dinner at a local steakhouse (it wasn’t Texas Roadhouse) where he told the staff it was for a proposal and even had flowers delivered to the restaurant. Prior to leaving for dinner, he told Ali to not get her hopes up about the night because the ring didn’t come in. She was surprised it was actually supposed to be at dinner because she fully expected him to propose after running their first half marathon together. This wasn’t their proposal night but was filled with a lot of congratulations from people at the restaurant which made for a memorable night. Not even a week later, Ali got home from work and Steve told her he wanted to get out of the house. As she was walking upstairs to change into sweats, she was told she should not change into sweats because they had tickets for Pumpkins Aglow at the Conservatory. Of course, she knew it was the night and she frantically got ready and sent a pic to her friends “last pic before the ring.” It wasn’t long before he got down on one knee, as she jumped up and down and he asked her to marry him. Big thanks to our niece, Isla for asking him “why aren’t you married?” and getting the ball rolling on our forever.
