FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

RSVPs are due by May 10th. If we haven’t heard from you by then, we will have to mark you as “not attending.” Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate late RSVPs because our venue and vendors require a final guest list. Please help us make the day run smoothly by responding as soon as possible.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes—kids are encouraged! Including kids of all ages. We want our wedding to be a fun, family event. We just ask that you let us know if your children will be joining so we can plan accordingly. There’s a spot on the RSVP form to include them.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The wedding Mass begins at 1:30 PM. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to find your seat, and settle in before Mass starts.

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We kindly ask that you refrain from taking photos during the Mass—we have hired a wonderful photographer to capture it for us. During the reception, please take as many photos as you’d like and share them with us!

Question

Do I have to be Catholic to attend the wedding?

Answer

Not at all! We would love for you to join us in celebrating, no matter your faith background. You’re welcome just as you are.

Question

Will the ceremony be like a regular wedding?

Answer

It will include many familiar elements—processional, vows, exchange of rings—but also Catholic tradition, such as prayers, Bible readings, and blessings. It is a Catholic wedding Mass. So it will be about 60 minutes.

Question

Do I have to kneel or say prayers if I’m not Catholic?

Answer

No! Please feel free to remain seated or stand when the rest of the congregation does, and participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Since this wedding will take place in a Church, we ask that guests remain reverent even if you choose not to participate in the Mass.

Question

What about The Eucharist (Communion)? Can I receive it?

Answer

In the Catholic Church, only Catholics who are in a state of grace may receive the Eucharist. If you’re not Catholic, you may remain seated. You may also come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing from the Priest. We highly encourage everyone who is non- Catholic, or non-practicing to come forward and receive a blessing.

Question

I’m not familiar with Catholic Mass—will I get lost?

Answer

The program we provide will guide you through the wedding Mass, and you can follow along. There’s no pressure to know what’s happening—you’re there to celebrate with us!

Question

What should I do between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

There will be a short break, aka "the Catholic gap" (2.5 hours) between the end of the Mass and the start of the reception. We recommend using this time to: check into your hotel or enjoy a snack and drink nearby. At 5, feel free to join us at The Post in Ralston (7400 Q Street Ralston, NE 68127) for the reception.

Question

What are my reception dinner options?

Answer

We’ll be serving delicious BBQ for dinner—come hungry and bring a napkin. :)

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes! We will have a full bar serving unlimited drinks all night.
