Chris and I have known each other casually for years, in fact, we often talk about times in our lives where we had crossed paths but hadn’t necessarily known the other ironically enough. Prior to us getting close, I had gone on a road trip with a friend of mine and disaster after disaster somehow followed up with me seeing 222. For example, a the phone number on the billboard when speeding down the highway or the house number of the home we had to park and stay in front of for hours as we attempted to change our dead battery. Shortly afterward in a moment of spontaneity, with no expectation of a response, I contacted Chris to come hang out and in as quick of a blink of an eye his response said “on the way” from that moment forward we realized how truly compatible and alike we were on so many levels. As we discussed our lives, beliefs and other knowledgeable topics, Chris casually mentioned his birthday was 2/22 and in that moment goosebumps covered my arms and body as I remembered the trip prior to him coming over, as our lives together progress we regularly see 222 in the strangest places as a regular reminder of our paths crossing in the most beautiful way.

Our story is pretty reflective of our life together as a couple, the first story was full of bumps in the road and a couple mishaps so story number two is the best one to tell… After the initial proposal hadn’t gone according to Chris’s plan, we decided to go off on our own to the local bar just a few blocks from my apartment. Just the two of us, we both sat and talked as emotions had been high and in that moment discovered life is better when we remove all the extra voices and people surrounding us. As we sang to the dad rock playing around us that we both remember growing up on, he looked at me and got down on one knee and said let me try this again… and we haven’t looked back from that day. It’s us.
